Maybe I should check that out. My dad loves Dickens, and he was a really neat author but, um…
I can’t stand his books.
So maybe that’ll help… XD

Those are really good! I can’t wait to see how they turn out. (Like, I really want to read your books.)
And yes! Another character driven writer! For a while I just couldn’t get my stories on paper untill I realized I didn’t know my characters. Now…they may be taking over my life.

I hope so. XD
It’s for my entire series, so hopefully I can develop each fully in their books (two MCs per book). We shall see.

Oh, those are good!
I have a lot. For each character. XD
Zlatan:Â doing what’s right no matter the consequences, courage in spite of fear, God’s mercy is everlasting and His blood covers all sins.
Vulkasin: obedience is better than sacrifice and to hearken than the fat of rams, love your neighbor as yourself, greatness is…[Read more]

So! What are everyone’s MC’s themes?

*Loud, stormy applause*
Not all writing is words on paper. I’m a bit of a plotter, so I’ve been working of my character’s arcs and story plot. (Thee book Save the Cat Writes a Novel is wonderful help on that score) or at least that’s what I tell myself.
I’ve also just finished college finals for the year, so that’s a relief on time.…[Read more]

First of all, that collage is beautiful!
Second, no, my writing has not been coming along very well, although I did start a short story with Zlati and Vulka’s parents. (Yes, I call my characters by their nick names) It’s my first attempt at anything like romance, and I am finally writing it down so I don’t…[Read more]

*Swings in through window*
Aha! I have arrived.
I’m supposing you need a name for the organisation, with a medievalish sound. This said band of bad guys not only thinks there powerful but also actually are. People join for that reason. They’re also forming a coup on the crown, so maybe there needs to be some secrecy here, and…[Read more]

Koshka replied to the topic Writing a Native American character in the forum Characters 1 year, 11 months ago
Um, I may be barging in here, but I know a little about Native American reservations and stuff.
Wether or not the native language is spoken depends highly on the tribe/area, but many are still active languages. Most states have several websites for the Native Nations in their state, which are very informative and helpful. Many n…[Read more]

Koshka replied to the topic When is dark writing no longer writing for God? in the forum Mission, Calling & Ethics 1 year, 11 months ago
I understand about being ‘overly sensitive’, although I’m not sensitive in the same way. I pick up emotions around me, both from real life and characters. And I have quite a vivid imagination, which tends to not forget the images I read. I understand this, and am accordingly careful. I was also raised with a stricter idea of…[Read more]

Interesting topic, and very important.
I don’t write or read anything I would call dark, or that feels off to me. (However, some of what I write could be done in a very sickening/graphic/dark way. I don’t want that, and I won’t read that, so I’ve thought about this quite a lot for many reasons.)
As humanity, there is a…[Read more]

I like the first book, but I can see how someone could be annoyed with it. The whole world took me by storm.
In fact, for me the hardest part in the series to read was between Artham’s capture and the Fork! Factory!. But that could have been from reading that part in the car… Yeah.

I felt a little awful after reading the last book, but I love the end, really. Not the first time I read it through, oh no, not till I’d reread the last two chapters a half dozen times. And then wrote the next chapter with my sister. It helped to know what happens next, even if we wrote it ourselves.

I believe Tolkien wrote Sam as the central protagonist in a book with many other MCs. Frodo and Sam are the two most important, and the hobbits are the focus characters. Other MCs are Pippin, Merry, Aragon, ect.
I actually wrote a research argument paper over this question for college. It was quite interesting to dig into.
Uh oh, I…[Read more]

Yes! I love Men of Iron! The characters are so beautifully complex, the settingis very well researched–one of the best of it’s time–, and the writing itself is just a joy to read.

Koshka replied to the topic Do your characters tend to be more extraverted or introverted? in the forum Topic of the Week 1 year, 11 months ago
That is funny. I’m more of an introvert, but I am one of those who don’t mind people, and want one or two close friends. That bleeds over into my characters a lot. =|

Hmm. I have an interesting range.
Zlatan in an introvert of sorts. He’s a very intense character who needs time alone but is also a strong leader.
Vulkasin is a complete extrovert, who has a thousand acquaintances and only a few close friends. (Somewhat due to circumstances)
Wilkins is an I. He needs one or two close friends, and a little time…[Read more]

So I was just reading through y’all’s conversation, and you talked so much about Sam and Frodo…
Ahhhh!!!! Those two are my absolute favorite favorite characters of LotR. Admittedly I’ve only read the books, but that means I have a closer appreciation for what the author intended, right?
Sam is so wonderful, and I…[Read more]
