I’ve still got a lot to learn and I’m my own worst critic TBH, but…umm…welp I’ve since learned about paragraphs….
🤣🤣🤣
Seriously tho, I started when I was little and I have my first “book” in a drawer (my mom kept it) and all the chapters are just like one long paragraph XD!!!
But I do think I’ve gotten better in other ways…[Read more]

@kathleenramm I’m actually quite similar to you, Kathleen. When I first started writing I learnt about theme and I was like, “Eh. I just want to write things that people will enjoy.” But now I want to write things that people will think about for a long time.

So my friend’s and I’s styles are different; she is constantly making a fantasy world and I am trying to make it more realistic. But this is not a setback, in fact, it balances us out perfectly! I would say the best thing we have done for co-writing is bought two notebooks; we each take one home and whenever a scene,…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Nice; I use Google docs a lot as well.
@gracie-j I just downloaded LibreOffice, and am excited to try it out! I also downloaded Quoll Writer; it seems very close to a free alternative to Scrivener. Thanks for the suggestion!

Absolutely barking mad.
I think that pretty much sums it up??
Lol, but seriously. I think I would say Passionate, Obsessive, and Distractible. I am very passionate and I often use writing as my tool for bringing awareness to things that upset me, or things that make me really happy. I would like to think both my process and my…[Read more]

@gracie-j Thank you for that rousing welcome!
It’s my little love letter to British mythology (which in turn inspired my article for this month). I’m keeping the main premise under wraps for now, but basically its about two brothers who are living in a fantasy world that was ruled by the Dark Lord for centuries, before he was…[Read more]

1. Overboard.
That’s too many ideas. No, no, stop. Why did you…stop getting new ideas. No. Stop. Why…why are you….why do you plan such extravagant things….
2. Scheduled.
Everything is carefully scheduled from the first day of the year to the last. Every project’s words are calculated, everything is plan…for one project.…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Not sure. Not much changed with first 2 rewrites, just some updates, but the 3rd one was like a whole new story so it’d be good to read both (but u can definitely get bogged down in detail so ya may have to skip some in the original lol)
I got the series when I was young, and stopped reading cuz I got bogged down, so years la…[Read more]

So I’ve been looking at different writing softwares out there…I was wondering which ones you guys use? I’m looking for something free and off the web, and am currently considering Quoll Writer, Atomic Scribbler, and Wavemaker. I’ve been using Microsoft Word and spiral notebooks for a pretty long time, but since I’m planning on writing longer…[Read more]

I would be good friends with most of my main characters I think, though the more like me they are, the less I would get along with them :/ Which may be slightly concerning.
However, I definitely would get along very well with the main character of my current novel though. He’s heavily based on my own brother (who may or may not be…[Read more]

Probably Kingdom Keepers by Ridley Pearson (the rewritten first 3, although I skimmed the 2nd one cuz it was never my favorite even originally lol)
The KK series is awesome wether u read the new first 3 book rewrites or all of the originals (I recommend doing both, except maybe with the 2nd book cuz only little things changed, and…[Read more]

7-8 i say that because one of my MC’s best friend is an animal, so I haven’t decided yet if I wanna give him some POV chapters or not.
i introduce a new POV character in every book until after book 4. Then the last three books are with those I’ve already introduced, unless something changes.
(Planning for it to be a 7 book series)

So….
Probs all of my MCs….😂😂
Even the villain, cuz I’m like “YOU POOR THING!!” XD.
but seriously, I’d probably be friends with all of them. Would we clash sometimes? Obviously. Most everyone does once in a while, but I really like all of my MCs.

@kathleenramm *literally forgets every sing character ever made, ever.* I’m trying to imagine myself there, haha, but there’s so many of them…and they’re either all so old or too young or kind of psycho or into crime or extremely introverted or stuff…
Probably Lionel, to be honest. One of my oldest characters and one of the more friendly ones.

Nice to meet you! I live in British Columbia. I believe I started skiing at age 5. What sports do you do in Florida?
I started writing seriously at age 11 during a creative writing block at school, where I was just able to start writing anything. I had been a hardcore reader my whole childhood, and that led into my writing.
I have…[Read more]

SeekJustice replied to the topic What do you believe is one of the most important elements of a good story? in the forum Topic of the Week 5 years, 10 months ago
For me it’s character and settings. The character bit is pretty obvious I think, I get invested in the characters and they’re the ones that make me really enjoy the story. But next to that, I really love settings and worlds! It’s an amazing feeling reading a book that really delves into the worldbuilding, whether that be fantasy,…[Read more]
