@bluejay I might be able to do it, depends on how hectic life gets. 😉 I’m interested, anyway!

No problem. 🙂 Take everything I say with a grain of salt though because I belong to the “Begin as late as you can and leave as early as possible” and the “If the reader has likely read a hundred other such scenes and can imagine what will happen, don’t show it” schools of thought… which I don’t think is very suitable to your…[Read more]

All right. I read it and liked what you have so far. 🙂 Here are some thoughts I have that may help you. I think this may be more suited to assist with refining a first draft to a second draft but hopefully some of it can apply to a Draft 1.5 as well.
#1: Word count is about 9k which I think is fair for the set-up of a 90-100k…[Read more]

I can’t find the link?
By the way, just to get an idea on the proper pacing, can you let me know how many words you’re planning to have for this novel?

All right, a few chapters won’t take too long. Not sure how much insight I can glean from that but I’ll do my best. It’s in my interest to help you get Wattle Fire done as soon as possible after all. 😛

Hmm… tough. I’ll offer to help if you let me take a look at your 50% NaNo draft so that I can try to see what exactly are the issues here… (An excuse to ask you to let me read some of Wattle Fire early!) 😛
But since I don’t know the full extent of your outline and what you have planned, I’m not sure any advice from me would be…[Read more]

I see. What’s the main issue you’re facing on that? The pacing, the logical flow of events, the scene structure…?
I realised that I have jumbled up the sequence of one or two scenes for QOD in Part 2 so the story does not necessarily progress in a linear fashion and am wondering whether I should change that. But that’s an issue…[Read more]

Can’t wait for Part 3? 😉
I have tidied things up and filled in some of the blanks I had initially left but I think I have to write a few more scenes for Chapter 9.How’s Wattle Fire coming along?

I would ask how exactly you’re able to come onto the forum while “in the throes of washing up” but considering that I once played the character game with you while soaking in a pool, I guess I’ll refrain.
All right, see you later. 🙂

Hello I have the day off so I’ll be here today. Are you around? I know that it’s still Sunday for the others so you’re probably the only one who might be. 😛

@seekjustice Here are some lyrics I think you might find amusing.
This is the chorus to a song from WWI that I learned a few years back. Obviously, it was written by an American and shows just how much we tend to think of ourselves. 😛
The Russians were rushin’ the Prussians,
The Prussians were crushin’ the Russians.
The Balkins were balkin’… -

I see.
There are a few from the same people. I think the series is titled “The Perfect Aussie Christmas.”
In this one Americans come to Australia, trying to do an American style Christmas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmmxqRwHAfA

@seekjustice Well, at least it’s only for about a month and a half out of the year, right? 😛
As for there being only eight…I’m pretty sure I know at least a hundred, especially if you count Christmas hymns. 😉
Do you do Santa Claus in your family? We never “believed in” him, but we did pretend and we sing all the Santa Claus songs,…[Read more]

@seekjustice Well, that’s a good thing I guess. 🙂
Christmas songs are not annoying!!! 😛
Do you dislike Christmas songs because they talk about snow on Christmas? (Bigger question I’ve been planning to ask you: do you have Australian Christmas songs?) My family starts singing Christmas songs on Thanksgiving, though this year we started on t…[Read more]

It began as an outreach thing. There are lots of foreigners who come here to study and work. One particular group my church reached out to several years ago comprised of nursing students from abroad who are now working. Since they work in shifts, they can’t attend regular Sunday services so now my church has services ok both Sundays…[Read more]

@seekjustice Haha, I didn’t notice the date. Oh…I’m sorry! 🙁 I hope it isn’t too discouraging.
@valtmy 😛 Yes, isn’t it?
Haha, well, how is the story going, then? Do you have your characters where you want them, or are they rebelling like any good character would?
Are either of you preparing for Christmas yet? What do you usually do f…[Read more]

😛 Aw… Did you miss me that much?
I spent much of Sunday (like, almost all of it since I found myself waking at 2.30am for some strange reason) on KP but you didn’t turn up and I know @rochellaine dropped by but we missed each other. 🙁
Haha it’s ok, I know Sunday’s for church. (I think I’m the only one who has service on Saturdays).
