@devastate-lasting haha, I see. Well, I haven’t read many classics, but I enjoy the ones I have been reading.
@Calidris no, haven’t heard of it. My curriculum was Mennonite (CLE) I was homeschooled, and the stories bored me to tears at times, literally. Why do I need to read a story about Johnny jumping over cracks in the sidewalk for a nickel…[Read more]

@keilah-h That is a wonderful thing you’re doing, good job and keep it up!
I have preeetty severe ADHD and ADD, which I know isn’t the same, but people have treated me like I’m weird because of it and I admit that because of it, I have anger issues with people who are not kind to others.
If you ever read my books you’d find a theme throughout of…[Read more]

@daisy-torres haha that is a problem I am pretty sure I’ll have. I only have about a dozen of people seriously interested in my work, and they insist they will buy copies as soon as possible. That is why I want to publish my series, tbh, so I don’t disappoint them. XD (just kidding, I do want to)
ooo your books sound sick! And the siblings sound…[Read more]

People said that I should use tree sap instead of tar and feathers.
Even though it was a fictional comedy, and I was like 8.
I’m still salty.

@calidris I don’t think so. Was it bad or good?
-
Lin replied to the topic Reading in the forum General Writing Discussions 4 years, 7 months ago
@elfwing I mean, I used to read bad books too lol. And then I started writing, and I didn’t read anything but manga and classics, so when I finally went around to reading other stuff again, I was more like, “what is this thing I’m reading.” I guess writing has trained me to look for mistakes more, and also one of my sister’s hobbies is roasting…[Read more]

@scripter-of-kingdoms @devastate-lasting ok lol
I wonder if it’s from reading too many of the language arts stories that totally sucked and lacked any good characters and plots and so I improvised all through my school years because I was bored out of my gourd XD idk if anyone else has/had the problem of LA and English assigned stories like that…[Read more]

@elfwing Oh, for me, I’m the opposite. Problems always stick out to me, but usually I stay quiet about them because I feel like they aren’t something that the writer can change easily (like style, the overall plot, etc.) If it’s typos I will though.

@calidris sounds good! what i mean by plotting is that i need help with whether scenes are too vague and if im getting what i mean to write across

@calidris haha no it wasn’t the question really, but I will accept it if you want to. I was just wondering if I’m the only person who fills in the holes/problems in books to such an extent I don’t see the problems XD

ok, I want to ask this very random question…
I am odd in the fact that I can take a book that bores my friends to death because it’s too longwinded or not well executed in writing, and still enjoy it because I can fill in the problems?
This is great for enjoying a book, but it also can cause problems because now when I read anything, I fill in…[Read more] -

@kathleenramm The toughest criticism of anything I had, would be my mom on a story I wrote. it was very ridiculous, even for a 12-year-old’s writing and she told me as much and that I could definitely improve it. She said it lovingly, but at that point, it didn’t matter how she said it, it stung my childish pride. XD It was for my schoolwork and…[Read more]
