The romance doesn’t have to be an overt story plot either; it can just be a quiet subplot that filters in though the story itself (if that made any sense).

@ivy-rose oops, sorry. I had a fleeting thought that you’d probably see this thread and get some spoilers about the next book (though only a few since I don’t know all that happens yet myself). As for Sean…shall I tell you or make you wait in suspense? 😉 Except it won’t be for nearly a year, so I suppose I’ll tell if you wish…

A pepper bomb…and with everyone used to high tech weapons they’ve no defense against such an old-fashion burning hindrance. 😉
Enigma will be changing, kind of like what you suggested. Well, it has several layers and each one keeps getting worse as they figure it out. Except the government doesn’t know about all of it…But if her father died…[Read more]

Basically, in the middle of the book, Anna needs to discover more about Enigma, and she’s also involved in intelligence work with the Christians and to help the rebels. I just need to figure how she does these various things. And how/why her father should die.

The theme of the story is trusting in God; that God is enough even if you lose everything. As for the climax…still working on it. Though I think it has to do with her father dying (it’s at this point, probably, that part of her internal conflict is resolved). Then the climax will probably be with Anna and a small group having to hold off the…[Read more]

I’m having a hard time figuring out the middle of the second book of my trilogy. The first book has to do with Anna regaining her true memories and a rebellion starting against the oppressive government (this is set in America 200 years in the future). In the second book, Anna and others both take part in the rebellion (which spans the rest of…[Read more]

Giving characters contrasting qualities can be humorous. A bad guy who corrects everyone’s grammar. Or a hero who is terrified of mice. Or a judge who likes puns but can’t laugh at them in public because he needs to keep a dignified picture of himself.

I attended the webinar; I learned a lot and thought it was really good. Thanks for bringing it up, @Daeus.

@kate-flournoy Wonderful dramatic end. It made me laugh. 😉

Anna West, definitely. Mainly because I’ve based her (in part) of imaginings of myself in various situations. She’s an 18 year old girl in America 200 years in the future, and she is a Christian who works in the underground and, later on, in the rebellion.

As I’ve told my sister, I’ve not come to a final decision about the cloak…I’ll talk to Mom about it first. But it’s as much fun to scandalize Joy about things I’d like to do as it is to actually do them. 🙂

Except…I really liked that book. Well, as much as I knew of it anyway. 🙁 Write another story using the same theme and characters.
And why am I writing this to you when you’re sitting across from me talking to me and distracting me from writing this to you?

Of course publishing for free counts. That’s what I’ve been doing here. 😉

How about ‘I am just weird and so I want to wear the cloak to see everyone’s reactions?’

That depends on the definition of writer. You only write as a hobby every month or so instead of sticking with something and doing it. And I want to read your stories. 🙁 Also, you don’t understand my writer excuses for things. Like me wanting to wear my homemade cloak to the finals of our theology class. 😉
