@bluejay, I think this is a great idea! I don’t have tons of time for extra writing, but two to three paragraphs will every now and then will fit in my schedule nicely. I’ll work on it tonight and try to post it tomorrow.

@bluejay, I’ll consider your dare. @daeus, I accept your dare. At first I didn’t think I’d be able to use it, but now I see a place where I think it will fit. @winter-rose, that’s a great idea, but I don’t know if it will work with what I’m writing right now. I’ll consider it for the future.
Thanks for your dares, everybody! I am inspired… -

@daeus Ok. Let me know when you have something you want help with. How long is your novel? (Length won’t deter me from reading it, but it may give me a better idea of what to exchange.)

Okay, I’m open to more dares, because I need more ideas! @winter-rose, @ingridrd, @gretald, @daeus, @anna-brie, @bluejay, and anyone else who wants to challenge me.
Easy dare to anyone who wants it: Use the word “flabbergasted” in whatever you’re writing right now. Because it’s just a fantastic word.
I love your profile pic, Ingrid. Lord of the…[Read more] -

@daeus , how are you sharing your work? I would love to help in any way possible, if you are still looking for help. I also love receiving edits and critiques, but I don’t have any brief novellas to trade as my current briefest work is 30,000 words. But I do have a short story.

@Adry_Grace, I love your idea! I don’t think I can work it into my current novel but it would make a great scene… And it would take a great character to have a pet emu. I accept your dare and will let you know when I use it.
My dare to you and @bluejay : Your main character receives a letter from a close friend or family member which changes…[Read more] -

Because I have time today, and I don’t always have time, I’m actually going to start another topic. This one, as the title might hint, is on writing dares.
If anyone has ever done NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), you may have heard of writing dares. Basically, their purpose is to jog the imagination. They can help get you through a dry…[Read more] -

Hi @timothy-young! So glad you’ve joined Kingdom Pen! I think it’s fantastic how international this site is– I know there are people from Australia, Singapore, etc. I’ve been interested in mission work but am waiting to see where God is leading me… I really wanted to be a medical missionary in Africa or India about a year ago, but now I’m…[Read more]

Hannah R. replied to the topic More than one question about writing an allegorical series in the forum General Writing Discussions 8 years, 5 months ago
Thank you all so much for your suggestions! In answer to your questions:
@ingridrd , the original way I wrote the series was that every book was in third person, and different groups of characters were in different places doing different things but all a part of the same story (think Lord of the Rings… love your profile pic, by the way!) But…[Read more] -

So here’s the story.
~I wrote a book. I was probably eleven. And it was great when I was eleven– I was certain it was going to be the best piece of literature the world had ever seen, so…
~I wrote three more books about the same characters and made it a series.
~I turned thirteen. (I mean, I turned twelve, too, in between, but it just didn’t…[Read more] -

You know you’re a writer when you get lost in your basement at night because you were trying to experience total darkness.
You know you’re a writer when you enjoyed the time you fainted because you finally knew how to describe it.
You know you’re a writer when you apply red pen to your chemistry textbook because they asked you to figure out which…[Read more] -

Hey @bluejay!
I haven’t been on here for a while and I just saw your post, so I’m extremely late in the conversation and didn’t have time to read through more than the first page but I wanted to let you know that I have been to Sight and Sound Theater. I love acting, too, and I would love to act in one, but I’d have to move away to do it… I live…[Read more] -

I know this topic hasn’t been posted about for a while, but I saw it and thought I’d take a look… I am a music artist though not a published one yet. What type of music do you like to write, @reaganramm and @kate-flournoy ? I usually write music with lyrics– worship music, though not in the sense of Hillsong or Elevation worship music.…[Read more]

Thanks everybody! You’ve given me some good things to consider!
I do have the rest of the book written, and I may work toward publication this summer. I would love to publish the rest of it online, except that I don’t know how that would work and whether or not it would hinder my being able to publish it in print. Does anyone know anything about…[Read more] -

@kate-flournoy, that sounds like a great way to end a book, and a great way to set up another. Answering big questions is a great way to write a story.
One tip I would give is, try not to tell your readers the answer to the big question, “Who can we trust?” Show them. Show them what you think the answer is by giving examples, then let them decide.…[Read more] - Load More
