Great idea @dragon-snapper! For the sake of attention spans, can I just link to my blog post? Because honestly, if I tried to put it all down here, I would probably end up writing a whole new article:

@bluejay I’m going to vote for:
1. The Hobbit
2. Charlotte’s Web
3. The Witch of Blackbird Pond
Although I’m interested in nearly all of them. And by the way, I like the idea of presenting a tentative list of choices- it shortens the voting process. -

Hallo all people! I guess we all needed to take a little vacation this summer, eh? 🙂 Anyway, I’ll be introducing my little sister Grace to the forums this week. She’s a little nervous about getting involved in KP forums, and since you all are the bestistest folks on the internet, I wanted to give you a heads-up that another fledgling writer needs…[Read more]

@gretald Hello! I wanted to let you know that I have another blog, aheartdevoted.com, and we’re starting to look for Christian guest bloggers. We need writers who can blog about prayer, Bible, and Christian life in general. I always enjoy your Christian writer posts on Writing Like Crazy. Would you be interested in writing occasionally for us?

@overcomer It’s almost unbelievably hard to get back into routine, isn’t it? But I have gotten to do some writing since then, so that’s good. 🙂

@daeus Sorry, I haven’t been paying attention! Vacation really threw off my schedule, and I just finished another college course… But I agree with all your and @hope‘s points, and I would say that the expectations idea goes for all books, and movies too. When I start a new Shakespeare, I expect something completely different than what I would…[Read more]

@wordfitlyspoken Hey! I knew you from somewhere, too, but I didn’t know it was the KP forums. I guess Christian teen writers and CollegePlus go hand-in hand. 🙂

@daeus Sorry for being antisocial. College + 18th birthday + cover designs really took their toll. Anyway, I vote for The Hobbit, but any of these books sounds good to me!

@daeus @kate-flournoy and @overcomer I haven’t read Animal Farm before, but I agree with all those re-readability factors based on other favorite books. I also think that it has a lot to do with the minor details like subtext or foreshadowing, the subtle clues that you don’t pick up on until you know the ending. I also enjoy reading books like…[Read more]

@overcomer and @kate-flournoy I think it depends on the kid. My siblings are able to sit through anything from the Little House books to LotR, but I also know kids who, like Kate was, get scared of the mildest things. I think that if a child could endure the scarier things in the story, Animal Farm would make an excellent read-aloud even for…[Read more]

@overcomer I’m so used to auto-save that I get surprised when a webpage doesn’t save my work. 🙂

@the-happy-bookaholic @hope and @kateflournoy LOL, that’s why I use Google Drive. It might be slow, but it automatically saves your work for you. 😉

@sarah-h I think you’re onto something; Orwell picked the only usable POV for this story. At first I was thinking that he could tell it from the perspective of the pigs themselves, giving us a glimpse into the inner workings of totalitarianism, but then I realized that doing so would make the story much darker and more cynical and make it lose its…[Read more]

@sarah-h Orwell picked the only usable POV for this story. At first I was thinking that he could tell it from the perspective of the pigs themselves, giving us a glimpse into the inner workings of totalitarianism, but then I realized that doing so would make the story much darker and more cynical and make it lose its unbiased fairy-tale feeling.
