While we’re on cultures, and names, Realn call everyone by their first names usually, or treat the middle name like a last name. For instance, Mandin Owen Ward is called Mandin Owen just because it’s known he’s from the family-clan Ward. Lone Ones, like Nahim, don’t belong to this general rule.

She is aware that not all cultures function on the same naming mechanics, so she’ll probably assume that since he gave no middle name (which are always one-syllable and follow a specific pattern) that his name works normally.

Ellis would just think she’s being polite. In real life, it used to be normal to call someone you didn’t know well by their last name. If Rin’s culture is the same she might actually call him by his first name, thinking it’s his last name, which he might find weirder.

It’s gonna be interesting when Szabrin starts calling Ellis Percaro.

Best ng called Nayhelm doesn’t effect Nahim as much as it does to other Realn because he’s the last Nayhelm. Being called Nayhelm is now pretty common.

Actually wait, I take it back, fullblooded Strahchi can use Imitation ignore my mistake. I got mixed up.

I’m not a mystery expert, but I do enjoy them on the occasions I’ve read them. (Although that mainly includes Sherlock Holmes and a couple of Edgar Allen Poe stories.) I would be completely clueless creating a plot for one, so I can’t help much, but I think it’s a cool idea.
