Mine walk sometimes on their hind legs, but run on all fours. (If a squirrel runs. XD I’m not sure what the right word for ground flying is.) If anyone has read Mistmantle, they’re a lot like that. (very animal like, but also of course, able to do things real squirrels can’t.)
Tripkin is around twelve, come to think of it, and…[Read more]

They act so much like real bros 😂
Mine only goes on two legs too, so… *shrug* Actually, I think Koshka’s characters go on two legs.

Yeah… I was kinda confused about the walking situation….
Evander walks like an average tiger… so on all fours. He probably could walk on his hind legs… but thats often…
He is also two years old in tiger age… so he’s a young adult…. I guess….

This sounds cool! I think Whaley gave some good advice here, but one thing I wanted to mention, I guess.
I usually consider the inciting event to be: the thing that happens, making it so the character can’t go back to normal. But I know that won’t always apply, and each book is unique to itself.
Another thing I noticed — Ara…[Read more]

@godlyfantasy12 Nyxie is so cute/hilarious/kinda crazy. XD He’s awesome.
Yeah, my book is kinda similar to Green Ember or Red wall when it comes to the whole clothes and weapons stuff. (My foxes are kinda my favorite with kilts and dirks…)
Thanks!
If your character was only ever all-animal here it should be fine.

Yes you can join!
Nix can probably mention humans, although no one is likely to understand him, most likely thinking of Lyn as a larger fox. Which could be interesting, come to think of it…

Does anyone have any tips on building attraction between two characters in an enemy-to-friends to trope? Currently I have two characters who need to fall in love with each other, but they’re in the I-really-don’t-like-you stage and I don’t know how to get them out!…[Read more]

@godlyfantasy12 Ha, that’s a little gruesome, but I’ve seen worse.
TBH I’m imagining what a drawing of that would look like, and while it’d be bloody, it wouldn’t be so bad if it were displayed in a cartoony manner.
Oh, and yes, a rainstorm is a perfect place for a murder to be staged….
LOL that sounds so creepy.

I never said God created an evil being. We did choose to be evil in the fall. I was never disagreeing with you there 😊 That Choice is what makes us all sinful.
But yeah, we can leave it.
…
Ah, well I will still eat my tarts with glee 😜

Oh, okay…
I guess… Just maybe think about it, if you ever become comfortable enough? I can’t tell you what to think about, only that we should approach everything with truth-filled eyes.
…
Yes I did, the pastry tart metaphor was.. illuminating XDXD I loved it!

Here’s the thing… In the Bible, you can see many places where the word evil is used interchangeably with the word sinful. The word evil can be used for different things (sometimes with a whole different meaning entirely) but it is used to describe sin.
I would say sin is profoundly immoral and wicked. After all, we should spend…[Read more]

Insecurities.
Okay, here’s the bread and butter of it when it comes to my personal opinion –
I agree with you that they can be used as a character flaw, this is more of a tangent –
I feel like they comprise ninety-percent of character arcs in modern day YA, and I… kinda want the scales to shift? 😂 Is that just me?
Like, I…[Read more]

Okay, I’m so glad we straightened that out 😅😂
That is MY bad by using that word in that way, and I apologize.
So I guess what I mean is:
Active arc: Triumphing over a sin you didn’t know you had
Passive arc: Learning you didn’t have a sin you thought you had
Does that make sense?

OH MY GOODNESS I just realized… I think we’re each using the word “flaw” differently
I’m using it to mean, “sin”
Is that what you mean?
…
Also I’m sorry for arguing this late. I shouldn’t be going to far into this, when I’m not absolutely sure if I’ll agree with my past self in the morning XD

LOLOLOL 😂😂😎 There ya go, do with it what you will ❤
So…
Is there some way Zolten’s death might connect with November?
(I mean, fundamentally he’s on the same path as Ara, but it would be nice if it meant something specific to him, too)
…Maybe something to do with November’s dad? Idk.

*Pulls back* Okay, I’ll slow down…
First off, “influenced by others” was probably not the correct choice of word.
Being influenced by others can indeed be a flaw if you take it too far, make all your decisions based on others, etc. But that’s not what I meant. I just meant any normal influence in general. For example, it’s…[Read more]

It is very like her, which is fitting just…0_o Definitely Dark and surreal. Just a little gruesome… definitely makes it YA.
Cause totally something I couldn’t do in a Middle-grade book, lol.
Also…I don’t know if I’ll ever see tarts the same. XD

So you mean that an Active arc is when a character is overcoming their flaws and a passive one is when a character describes their own worth/I-can’t-think-of-a-better-word?
In that case I might only have one Passive character.
Flaws, flaws…how much they riddle life. Well, here’s a spiel. I used to be scared to write a flaw such…[Read more]

I’m glad it went well!! 🥰 I’ll be praying that you find the right college and I hope your cubing competition goes well! I mean, even usually sub 30 is pretty amazing! Thanks so much! Yeah, I’ll be doing 2 by 2 and 3 by 3. It’s a pretty small competition, but I don’t know any of the other events anyways. I stopped cubing for a long time because my area had no competitions, so I got rusty. I was averaging 25 at some point I think, so yeah 30 seconds makes me feel a little washed up 😂 competing is a…[Read more]
