My own work is…Â 😅
By the way, I am still waiting for your feedback on my first three chapters. *hint, hint*
Haha it’s OK though. I know you’re busy with exams and I have to focus on what I’m currently working on now instead of getting distracted by my previous parts.

I am imagining the narration of the MC being in this very pompous tone of someone who thinks he is very smart but isn’t (I mean he doesn’t even know what a prosthetic is???). The doctor could be this nervous, stuttering geek and the nurse a brainless beauty with a flair for the dramatic. Not sure if that’s how you’re seeing it but…[Read more]

That’s probably true. 😛
I actually think your piece will work well as a short film where you can see all the crowding and jostling and it’ll be funny to watch the overdramatic reactions that the incompetent doctors and nurses have. But just reading it as a story makes me go “Really? What kind of doctor/nurse will do that?” If it…[Read more]

Bye!
Obviously what I would do is not to make everything more realistic (that would defeat the point of the humour). But what I would do is give more characterisation to the doctors and nurses so that it is clear they are meant to be taken as a joke (frankly speaking, I wasn’t laughing at those parts because I was…[Read more]

Thanks! That was a nice article. I guess I can think of this scene as a… fireside chat scene. Without the fireside or the chat. 😀

I know the feeling. But, hey, at least you can afford to have a slower pace and lots of time for introspection given the genre you’re writing. 😀
Mine’s a comedy so I need things to be light, fast and with a constantly moving and changing web of jokes so that the humour doesn’t get old…Â 😓

Yes I suppose that makes sense. Thanks! (now I’m imagining my character doing cooking and it, uh, doesn’t feel too right).
The scene is written from my side character’s POV and my MC is not even there at all (they haven’t met yet) so the purpose of the scene is foreshadowing to introduce a character and an element that my MC will…[Read more]

You haven’t posted more of your western because of… scene structure?

I’m working on my WIP…
This is weird to ask but… does every scene necessarily need a goal/conflict/outcome or reaction/decision? Because the scene I’m working on does seem important (it introduces a side character, does some foreshadowing and drops some hints of important events that happen in the background) but it doesn’t seem…[Read more]

😓
Btw have you taken a look at the chapters I’ve uploaded for my WIP? Cos I think it might be helpful if I got some comments before I proceed any further.

My WIP. I have *sigh* this compulsive need to edit what I’ve already written when I really should be moving on.

Oh a Les Mis retelling that’s interesting 😀 I might take a look at it one day when I actually have the time!
I’ve only ever read one Les Mis retelling before and that was, um, not really a retelling (Pratchett’s Night Watch). It featured a good Javert (an honourable cop) and a bad Valjean (a serial killer) who travelled back in…[Read more]

LOL 😛
What are you working on now? And (this is really embarrassing to ask since I feel like I should know this by now) can you tell me what your book is about? I see mentions of Justice and Chessy here and there and I know there are links to your drafts floating about but (sorry about this) I never really got around to reading it…[Read more]
