  • @David— Hornblower is an absolutely fantastic movie series by A&E. It’s a swashbuckling adventure series set in the Napoleonic wars, and starring Ioan Gruffud.

And… I hope I spelled his name right. The same guy that played William Wilberforce in ‘Amazing Grace’, if you’ve seen that one. Rosey asked because the name of Horatio Hornblower’s…[Read more]

  • Thanks Hope and Amanda! Oh boy Hope, I completely know what you mean about being practically everything in a production! I’ve never actually done a movie (we don’t have a video camera) but I’ve done plays, and I know what that’s like, believe me.
So you answered a lot of questions I had.
But… I’m never out of questions. That is both a good…[Read more]

  • What does the code say (I’m assuming this is a coded message…if not, there could be one)? Whatever it says could set off the next line of events.

I’ve directed (and written/acted in/edited/about anything else you can think of) several short movies. Well…I don’t know if I’d call them movies because quite frankly they are pretty bad. Our longest was 20 minutes, but most were 3-5 minutes. Anyway, normally I (being the oldest) was the director and had siblings aged 17-8 acting.

    Getting them…[Read more]

  • I think Ecclesiastes: 8:5 makes more sense when read with verse 6. To use your translation: Ecclesiastes 8:5-6,
    “He who keeps his command will experience nothing harmful;
And a wise man’s heart discerns both time and judgment,
6 Because for every matter there is a time and judgment,
Though the misery of man increases greatly.”

    The phraseology o…[Read more]

  • It should let you write on it…and I assume you can save it. I’ve only ever worked with Microsoft; sorry if I’m not being much help. 😛

  • Hello after all these weeks. I’m now in the business of resurrecting dead topics. Morbid? Perhaps.

But I’m reading through Ecclesiastes right now, and I came across this passage:

‘Where the word of a king is, there is power; and who may say to him “What are you doing?”
He who keeps his commands will experience nothing harmful; and a wise man’s…

  • Haha! Lovely!

Hm… I wonder what the trash pickup thinks of that…

Yes! I do that too. It’s really cool, actually.

  • Okay. Gotcha. Thanks for the tips.

Has anyone here ever directed a play or a movie or something? Cause I’m looking for tips about directing, and working with actors, particularly actors who may not want to be actors (aka siblings) or actors who are too shy to make a fool of themselves in front of everybody else, which is basically all acting is.…[Read more]

  • Um…um…um… okay, I’m fiddling with it, and I’ll fiddle around until I find something to make it work. Thanks!

Oh and also, Hope, will the document allow me to write in it? Is it not specified as read only? I suppose I could always try it and see… but will it let me save anything I type in it?

  • Also, if you can’t get comments to work, you could just insert notes directly into the text…say in red lettering or something like that.

  • Hum. That sounds like it makes sense. I’ll try it. And if it doesn’t work, you’ll know, because I’ll be back on here screaming for help. 😛

  • Never heard of WordPad before but it doesn’t look like an office system so it probably doesn’t have a comments option. If you don’t have an office system, get one. LibreOffice is free. If you have one, but it isn’t opening the file in that office system, right click the document in the email and then select, “open in” and select your office system.

    Thanks…I’m subscribed now. 😉

  • Hmm…well, I know how to comment with Microsoft, which is how I sent it. What are you looking at it on?

  • Okay, one more question. I got the document, Hope, and I started reading it, only to discover that I have zero clue how to comment on a WordPad file. Help me please? Anyone who knows how or even if this can be done? I will be forever in your debt…

Wait— you and KP are splitting ways, Daniel? What did I miss?!?! What dreadful things follow such a drastic and astonishing announcement?

I haven’t listened to the podcast yet— maybe you mentioned it there. I’ll probably get around to it tomorrow. Tuesdays are usually it for me.

Where do I sign up, and on what, to subscribe to podcasts? I always seem to have trouble when I just push ‘Follow’. Is there something special I need?
