First, let me say I really liked it how you took a Dickensian twist to the street and identified each house or building by its shrubbery. That was so cool.
Most of what I have to criticize (that’s such a harsh word) has to do with style. Now. The butchery.
I had a lot of the problems I’m seeing here when I started out, so I was able to recognize…[Read more]

Hi ya gents and gentresses. Having survived my first excerpt, its time for the next challenge. Are you ready?
You’re going to have to be honest…
On your marks, (such and such)
GO!
(This is a couple chapters later and has no relation to my last excerpt.)
On the morn of the morrow, many of the townsmen gathered in at the very same inn. They…[Read more]

Hey ya gents and gentresses (ha! I created a word. *Deep satisfaction*),
I’d like a critique. I’ll have it will done thank you.
So what’s going on is I’m writing a novel. (Surprise?) I’m only in the early parts though and I figured it would be a good idea to get some input on my writing now so I can try to avoid any major flaws in the rest of…[Read more]

maybe they could be set up so you could drive them into the water and they’d submerge and slip in or out of places that way
Oh, yes. Make them submarine cars so they can dive to the bottom of a lake or just go across it (and maybe they could even have a secret base at the bottom of the lake). The cars could also have hovering capabilities so if t…[Read more]

Well, I’d have all their vehicles be bulletproof. And maybe they could be set up so you could drive them into the water and they’d submerge and slip in or out of places that way. Also, weapons (lethal or stun type guns) could be in place…out of sight, of course, but in place for easy defense. They could also probably pick up all kinds of…[Read more]

For me, the One Year Adventure Novel has been the best writing resource I’ve had so far. I did it when I was a Jr. in high school. I would say it’s way past the basics of writing. One of the things it did for me, was caused me to ask some of the hard questions about structuring my novel, ones that I would typically ignore because I thought they…[Read more]

Thanks for all the ideas Daniel. I really like the parachute in a belt one. Hmmm, now if only one of my characters would have the chance to fall off the top of a building or jump out of an airplane :p
Does anyone have any suggestions for cars? So far I’m planning on them driving regular looking vehicles so that if they have to drive through an…[Read more]

Daniel#2 Space travel…I think I might comprehended about half of that. But it’s still cool. I don’t have space travel in this book but I’ll have to remember that for sometime else.
Do you have any thoughts on laser weapons or the possibility of laser weapons that will shoot a programmed distance and then ‘fizzle out’ so they are lethal after…[Read more]

Oh… ow ow ow ow… reading through this thing has given me a thinking-headache. Numbers… are not my forte. Whew!
Y’all have no idea how much power you have to be able to understand these convoluted mechanical and mathematical formulas.I think I’ll stick with atoms, neurons, protons, electrons, ions, and molecules. They’re so much simpler.

Can I ask a question?
What exactly IS NaNoWriMo? I know it’s basically when you try to write 50,000 words in one month, but what IS it? Where did it get its start? Is it a competition? Is it a curriculum?
I’ve only just really recently started hanging out with other writers (primarily on this forum and a few blogs) and I’ve heard some great stuff…[Read more] -

Ok, I think I basically understand. So travel doesn’t become imaginary, it just changes its dynamics relative to the speed of light (or something like that).

Daeus replied to the topic Futuristic Weapons in the forum General Writing Discussions 10 years, 11 months ago
Hey Daniel#2, I’m confused. How could something travel at 300 times its usual rate when distance is imaginary? How could you measure speed at all in such a situation? Would’t travel itself be imaginary too if distance is imaginary? Wouldn’t physics essentially fall apart? Or at least wouldn’t whatever when through this tunnel be so altered that…[Read more]

Alright Daniel, that sounds good. I can very basically understand your idea in the first part and it sounds like a really good idea. As far as the free energy thin, that is wwwaaaaaayyyyyy beyond me and I find it a little confusing so I won’t try to understand it for now, but it sounds like a neat theory.

I’ve been hearing about the One Year Adventure Novel curriculum from various people and am wondering who here has/is taking it and what you think? Is it worth the price? About what writing level is it for. (Though I have written a few books of my own, I by no means claim to be an expert on writing. But is this something I would still get a lot…[Read more]

That is an awesome idea. Just as long as the thing could propel itself in the right direction.
One more thing. How would it be powered? Would thermoelectric work on such a small scale? Solar? Could it gain power from the computer it is hacking?
That would be a terribly wicked device. We need to start thinking about how to develop security against that.

Fine indeed.
So does anyone else have anything to say on cliffhangers?
Good.
Now let’s move on to cliched titles. I didn’t originally plan to discuss this on this topic, but I glanced at my title for the topic and noticed that it mentioned cliched titles. So.
What does anyone have to say on cliched titles? Anything? Who wants to give a list of…[Read more]

That would help. With boots, I think it could really work. The thing is, we have to ask, “how would it stick in the first place?”

What if you had gloves that came up to your elbow; tight, skin-fitting type gloves so you could use your whole lower arm?
