Ooh, AWESOME!!! Soo, I should admit my writing process is normally 100% different from normal, sane writers processes. I normally write my first drafts how most people write their second ones. But when I start round two, I don’t normally reread my story until later drafts because often it gets very discouraging for me to see all…[Read more]

@joy-caroline Thx! Any other tips u could share? (If u don’t mind) my main thing probably with this draft is definitely the characters (although I want to do good descriptions and such too). I have 3 POV Charries and I write in first person so they each get their own chapter when it shifts to their POV.
I’m mainly trying to figure out how to…[Read more]

Thank you! (I was worried it wasn’t all that great, so I’m super glad that you liked it!:) I think it portrayed their personalities pretty well. Mejia usually isn’t surprised by much or at least doesn’t act like it. And sure! I’d love to
monologuetalk more about my characters! I mean literally, I’d be happy to…[Read more] -

Yep, I am just grateful that I’m safely on this side of the pen/screen from my characters XDThank you:) Yeah, I’ve talked about him a little here and there before, but this is the first time I referenced the squirrels XD Though I haven’t officially decided about how the scene will…[Read more]

@nanisnook Hi! I think mainly this all depends on your writing style, or your writer’s voice. Everyone has a different voice, and obviously it takes a while to find it, so the tip is to try a lot of new things! I personally gravitate towards a minimal style, with extremely minimum description. Recently, though, I’ve done a writing exercise where…[Read more]

@abigail-m So I didn’t actually read all of ur stuff but I did see one thing….

Oh! Also, if you’re describing someone, and you’ve already described someone in their family or that looks similar to them, use that! I have one character who has the same hair color and eye color as his mom, so sometimes I’ll mention he looks like his mother, or his eyes, the same as his mom’s, were a bright blue. That way you kinda get two…[Read more]

@nanisnook Sooo I also struggle with this mainly because I don’t want to take the time on it lol. If this is your first or rough draft, I suggest not worrying about it too much unless you want to. You can always go back and add in better descriptions in later drafts (:
That being said, I’d try imagining the scene in your head. How would you feel…[Read more]

Second draft haha what is thatÂAhem. Anyways. No, I haven’t really done any second drafts before…I mean, sometimes I change core scenes, and my sister makes me rewrite some…I know I’ll be doing second drafts for some, though, especially the ones that i wrote when I first started writing. I’m gonna redo the whole plot…I, u…[Read more]

Hi Natalie!
I definitely understand struggling to write descriptions. But I think I can help a little with the “show, don’t tell” advice that everyone gives us writers. It means that instead of saying, “she looked at the blue lake and liked it”, say “she admired the lake’s glittering, blue surface.”
Or instead of, “he was strange,” say…[Read more] - Load More
