Your first reaction when you are alone in an idling truck on top of a slick, icy hill and the truck begins to slide—before the initial terror set in—is ‘Cool. So this is what it feels like, going into danger.’
You know you’re a writer.

Daeus replied to the topic Let's Write A Poem in the forum Poetry 10 years, 10 months ago
Alright, I’ve finally edited this thing. So here is the finial poem that we wrote. I have to say, this may have been a hard way to write a poem, but it was very fun. I hope you enjoy the product.
When Autumn winds excite the leaves
And whisper through the fading grass
When raindrops tumble off the eaves
Then, I feel at home
For wind and rain and…[Read more] -

Another one that makes me teary eyed in some places is Howard Pyle’s ‘Men of Iron’. Have you read it?
Hey, men of iron, somebody else has read that. Howard Pyle is a pretty good author. Men of iron was probably his best one since it was the most personal.

I’m reviving this topic to throw in a good word for an album I found recently via Youtube. I think it’s a video game soundtrack… maybe… but it’s really great music.
It’s called ‘Dragon Age: Inquisition’, by Trevor Morris. I got it for twelve dollars on Amazon. Some of it is a lot like Audiomachine, but it had a LOT of really great creepy music…[Read more] -

Good topic! I also cried reading Little Women, in several different places, but I find the more often I read a book, the less likely I am to cry at the sad parts. So I tend to ration my re-reading based on whether or not I want to maintain my ability to tear up when sad or happy things happen. 😛
One book that still makes me chokey in my throat…[Read more] -

Coola bloga. Just checked it out. I have this http://www.thescratchingquill.com but whether or not it is technically a blog, I’m not sure. It is something though and I enjoy it and it is on the internet.

@The Happy Bookaholic It’s good to have someone to correct our grammar since we are writers after all. Keep it up. I’d just ask you to try to avoid the all caps. Your points are just as pertinent without them.

Hm… I don’t think ‘The Clashing’ sounds cliche… no, it’s not that, I don’t think. I think it’s just a little… oh, what’s the word. Melodramatic? Maybe? Maybe a little videogame-ish?
But ultimately it’s your book— and since I haven’t read it through yet, I can’t offer an opinion on what would fit and what wouldn’t. 🙂

The subtitle sounds great, and I think the basic idea of clashing works well, but “the clashing” just doesn’t sound right. You might try a similar word instead and then add in an adjatiave or something.

Can it be “the slave king”? That would really catch my attention.
I like Battle of the age
And Age’s End
I like the “the sign” from “the spear, the shield, and the sign”. I think the whole thing is too long. Maybe something shorter and “the sign” -

@Ivy Rose Really now, happen to have heard of the Karishians, Cartosians, or Adishians? My great grandfather survived the genocide. The story is going to be based on his story.

Hm… I like Age’s Ending. Only maybe it would sound more dramatic if you went with simply ‘Age’s End’.
And glancing through the titles, I sort of mixed and matched and came up with a few that may or may not be relevant… I’m just fiddling around and trying to be my innocent unhelpful self, so feel free to tell me to go away.

Ooh… wow. There are other people like me out there! YAY! Actually I knew that as soon as I first found KP… and it was so encouraging… anyway.
I really love the theme of this poem (of course, since I can relate to it!) and it was very well put across.
There was one line I noticed whose cadence twisted a little oddly— ‘without ever…[Read more] -

Oh good! You’re almost done. Good stuff, huh? One of my favorite poems is the one that starts ‘Roads go ever, ever on, over rock and under tree, by caves where never sun has shone, by streams that never find the sea…’ etc.
Yes please do post a sestina— I tried to make sense of the pattern and I think I got it… heh-heh… maybe… sorta……[Read more]
