@dragon-snapper *randomly pops in* Whoa! That is so good! I love how he’s laughing in the bottom one—I can practically hear it.
And thanks for compiling the characters. @graciegirl, I think I’m going to try Nykkai.

@kate-flournoy *has confidence in abilities* Well that makes me happy.
@delightinlife Sometimes when I’m writing short stories, I find that it helps to just forget about word limitations and write how you want. Then, when you’re done, you can go back through and carefully weed out any extraneous words or parts. And it might behoove you to ditch…[Read more]

@delightinlife Muahahaha—*chokes* Ahem. Please keep in mind that I’m not the most experienced writer, and emotions are one of the things I struggle with, so take everything I say with a grain of salt. But I am reading a book about writing emotions, so here’s what I’ve learned from it so far.
First of all, writing your own emotions into Josiah…[Read more]

@delightinlife I just want to add—Thank you for letting me beta read your story! Beta reading is something I don’t get to do very often, but I find that working objectively through someone else’s writing helps me better my own. Handing one’s Precious over to the merciless arms of the editors is never an easy thing, and I appreciate your bravery…[Read more]

@dragon-snapper *breathes heavy sigh of relief* Oh good, I’m not the only one around here who’s read Treasure Island. 🙂
@that_writer_girl_99 You’re in good hands with these Classic nerds, but can I add one? Pwease? *bats eyelashes prettily* Jane Eyre. Slightly creepy, but still a good book. 😀

Ethryndal replied to the topic Chapter Titles in the forum General Writing Discussions 8 years, 11 months ago
I like chapter titles. Mind you, I’m probably going to end up not having them in my book, because I hate coming up with them, but as a reader, I really like them. They give a hint of what’s coming without being too obvious. You know, “As the Shadow Fell” or something cool like that. Before I start a book, I always read the table of contents first…[Read more]

@aratrea I’m really sorry this is taking me so long.
Scene One: On her journey, Liriel stops at a human town to spend the night. It’s her first excursion into the world of mortals, and because a good friend of hers always spoke highly of them, and she secretly hopes to see the extraordinary side of them that he does.
Scene Two: She finds an inn…[Read more]

@delightinlife Well, I’m done. 😀
Okay, I was thinking about the whole part with Reuben, and this is my idea (which is probably terrible): What if Reuben wasn’t bullying the squire? What if the kid had done something wrong, and Reuben was reprimanding him? But to Josiah, who missed the first part of the conversation, it looks like the knight is…[Read more]

@delightinlife Now I have the unpleasant task of trying to beta read after @jane-maree‘s wretched thoroughness. *groans* Jane, remind me to have you beta read my novel when it’s done. 😉 Bella, I’m going to do a little tonight, but I’ll probably finish tomorrow.

@Emma-Flournoy OH. Now I get it. Sorry, I had a brain dead moment. It happens to me occasionally.
Yeah, them poor athiests. They just need to read God’s Smuggler. *launches into insane cackling and rubbing of hands* That ought to fix ’em. 😀

@Kate-Flournoy I’m so proud of my growing Middle-Earth knowledge. I actually know where that is.
@His-instrument Aha, I didn’t know you were an Elf! Apparently, my elf eyes have failed… Well that formula checks out. I’m from Lothlorien. Which I already knew, but never even thought about the hair thing. So this proves it.
