*tips her hat to you for taking the unpopular opinion*
@Daeus all fair points. I can see what you’re saying, definitely, and in some measure I agree, but it didn’t prevent me connecting to the characters. I thought it was kind of the point that they were all hopeless rebels without a cause. Though I will admit I was intrigued by them more than I…[Read more] -

And has anybody seen any good indies lately? ‘Cause discovering an amazing indie is like unearthing a treasure chest. Just sayin 😀

Honestly, I didn’t really brush my article up that much. Just added a couple sentences in the end talking about, as Kate said, the unavoidability (not even a word) of cliches. Just stressed how unimportant they are.

@brandon-miller Love how you summed up science fiction in that one sentence
A good sci fi story always explores what it means to be human in the present, by exploring alternative realities, past or present, and highlighting humanities strengths and weaknesses in those settings.

@dragon-snapper Yep. Your mind’s ideas just soar above my level of comprehension 😛 Maybe use actual examples? I dunno

@dragon-snapper Great! I really liked it too. I thought it had perfect tone for the story it was trying to tell 😀
@kate-flournoy Haven’t seen Rogue One, but I did find this vid about it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsIQa7sH5_Y
@graceofspades2017 Haven’t seen Storks. Wanna do a “full review” to boast about its awesomeness? And wow! Eight…[Read more]

@Dragon-Snapper uhhhhh… uhhhhh… *gapes at you* Okay. *tries not to stare* Uhhhh… if you didn’t see it, no amount of my telling you what I saw will really do much good, but I suppose it won’t hurt to go through it just in case. 😛
First of all… Jyn’s arc. From ‘It’s [‘it’ being evil and oppression] not a problem if you don’t look up’ to ‘We…[Read more] -

@Dragon-Snapper wow… you want the whole list?? 😛
Well, to sum it up, I love action movies with great plots, and I also adore movies with superb character and relationship development, and I’ll die for a movie with a dynamic, well-executed theme, but it’s so seldom I find even two of those in the same movie. Rogue One has all three. -

@emma-flournoy No biggie
@sleepwalkingMK Great that I could help ya!
@dragon-snapper Yes! Self-made connections are always more revealing. That’s why I believe stories can sometimes teach more than lectures. Because they make people draw a conclusions for themselves.
Okay, I get what you mean about the arcs. It makes sense. And you’re right.…[Read more]

@Mariposa welcome to the Kingdom! 😀 😀 😀 Dinosaurs are fascinating. I prefer dragons myself (as you can see, I am one. 😉 ) but dinosaurs are the next best thing.
And your art is really good. What medium do you use? -

@dragon-snapper Yeah, I really think writing science fiction with these definitions in mind will improve your story at least in the areas of character and theme.
I really like that definition of sci-fi for obvious thematic reasons. Also, sci-fi can’t just be about technology and the extraordinary because that would disregard certain genres of…[Read more]

@Mark-Kamibaya I know. 😛 One tiny bit over the limit and my brain is guaranteed to be fried for the rest of the day. XD
Hey, it’s all good. It wasn’t irritating; or if it was I didn’t notice. I’m not thin-skinned enough to be irritated by other people’s strongly stated opinions. 😉 Perhaps I should be more sensible of that… 😛

LOL! 😀 It’s hilarious how easily our brains can become mush. And I realize I came off a bit strong so, sorry if anybody got irritated or anything. Either way, you guys showed me how I need to clarify things in my writing. My main point definitely wasn’t that clear. I’ll probably update the article and tweak it a bit before I send out my monthly…[Read more]

Sci-Fi Research Part 1
So the first thing I did was research what science fiction actually is. I looked for a whole bunch of definitions. Many went something like “science fiction is a genre that deals with futuristic science and technology” or “it’s merely a setting.” Personally, I found the “dealing with technology” definition to be quite…[Read more]

@Dragon-Snapper what @FeedingMyGoldfish said. 😀
I’m afraid I know next to nothing about singing at all— I just love to do it and so I do, and I’ve learned along the way. I did look up a few tutorials on breath control starting out, but otherwise it’s all just been trial and error— and practice. *evil smile*
I guess if I had one piece of…[Read more] -

@Mark-Kamibaya my apologies. 😉 I was also operating on a low battery when I wrote that, so it’s probably not as clear as it could have been.
You got it though. And you’re right, I didn’t realize that was what you’re saying, and if that’s the case there’s no debate, because I totally agree. 😛 - Load More
