@kate-flournoy @emma-flournoy Ok, I guess I didn’t make this clear. In this situation, I’m already giving away a book of mine for something else, so if I want to incentivise people for both actions, giving away the same book isn’t an option. I could write a third book, but that’s very impractical.

@emma-flournoy Yes, basically, though I believe it was written in the same time period as the author lived in. It’s a pretty recent novel. I’m not sure, but I think early 1900s, or maybe mid. It takes place in South Africa.

“This is a story about two children. Actually, it’s story about two children and a mischievous and slightly sulky door, but I mustn’t get ahead, must I?
At birth these two children were given the names Nicholas Wilbur Rothelburg and Scarlett Jaylie Rothelburg. They also happened to have been given these names at almost the exact same time, on the…[Read more] -

@hope in all honesty, I haven’t written a ton of short stories. I’m in the middle of one now that’s historical fiction, but what I’m usually used to is writing scenes from larger, more complete fantasy worlds. So, I guess the answer is that I love fantasy and science fiction because it’s so flexible.
@emma-flournoy I think my favorite animal out…[Read more] -

@hope You’re welcome. *insert weird grin that borders on madness* I’m sure you can visualize one.
@emma-flournoy @daeus @kate-flournoy hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha back at yah. I literally came up with that on the fly, but it’s my best of that type… cause I’ve never written a poem about a specific person before.

@emma-flournoy, @I-J-Anderson probably doesn’t even have to read Les Mis because I talk to her about it so much 😉 But you should read it, Jane, you really should!
All I know is that being in the play has changed some of my view of Les Mis, for one, rehearsals have turned the thing into a comedy. For example, last night, my friend Damian…[Read more]

@daeus Thanks. That makes is clearer. I should try one of those sometimes.
@hope is dauntless, and a little weird
Her writing is notorious and her wit is feared
To be on the end of her razor sharp mind
Is a scarring experience, I’m sure you will findHer books are well written and quite enthralling
Into her spell you will find yourself…[Read more] -

Can someone tell me what a visual poem is please? I saw @bluejay‘s poem that she labeled that, but then @daeus said it wasn’t really a visual poem and I wasn’t able to click on the link to see his. What is it? Cause when I know, I might want to write one. I enjoy poetry.

@emma-flournoy you must be related to Kate! Hello! I have owned a lot of animals in the past including 3 guinea pigs, 3 russian dwarf hamsters, 2 millipedes, an abundance of fish, an iguana years ago, 200 pound pig which we ended up giving away in a PennySaver ad, 2 love birds, a turkey,a lot of rabbits, and even two sheep that both gave birth to…[Read more]

@bluejay Yah, I cried too, at the beginning, when I knew his parents would die cause how else would he get stranded in the woods, when he had to choose between Elliot and his ‘family’ and even at the end when he found Elliot again. I wasn’t expecting that, but I guess they weren’t happy to leave it like the old one, where he never sees them again.…[Read more]

@anne-of-lothlorien: I have written a short Choose-your-own-Adventure story in second person. It was fun, but incredibly difficult! I can’t imagine doing 2nd person in any other way than a CYOA. That’s one thing I never liked about CYOA’s. Sometimes, they would say things like, “If you decide to chase after the criminal, go to page 8. If you…[Read more]

@Emma-Flournoy eeeep!!! That wasn’t supposed to come out yet. 😛
@Anne-of-Lothlorien well, a writing blog. Not so much ‘how-to’ as it will be… I don’t know, encouraging? Inspirational, I guess you could say. And a little bit of everything that the more technical sights don’t talk about— psychology, personality, the philosophy of storytelling…[Read more] -

Okay, so I really like reading other people’s blogs/websites. My favorites are You Write Fiction, Writing in the Light, and Writefury. So I was looking for other Christian blogs to read, mostly about writing, and I wondered if anyone on here has one.

I used to ONLY write third person, and I had no idea if it was omnipotent, or omnipresent, or whatever. Still don’t quite remember those. @Daeus what are those things?
But now I write mostly in first person. I like focusing on one person personally better, and it lets me put in weird thoughts that I probably wouldn’t if it was third person.
But…[Read more]

@emma-flournoy Er, well, I don’t know of any word that’s wrong simply because of form. Damn, for instance, is a perfectly legitimate word, it’s only wrong when it is used with the wrong intent that it’s bad.
Now, I guess I should go ahead and explain my thoughts on the second half of the verse. I actually don’t like the NKJV rendering of it…[Read more]
