I’ve been ignoring this thread, but for some reason I just really wanted to do it all of a sudden. 😀
Flash would rather never hear stories than never hear music…probably. He wouldn’t like either though. 🙁
Flash would rather climb a hundred foot wall than watch TV all day, though he’d feel awkward having to climb a tall wall.
Flash would…[Read more]

@jenwriter17 aw really? I don’t remember Counted Worthy having any bad content (particularly in comparison to the Hunger Games and other similar books). Oh well, that’s fine.
Ooh, I hope you enjoy A Time to Die!! 😛

Totally understand. Maybe in time, you’ll join the dark side, @aviantrail.
Bad Star Wars humor aside, I really do understand. I’m in college too. Balancing classes and writing is quite the task, isn’t it? Yet strangely, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Being in college has taught me a lot about myself, and a lot of my determination in writing…[Read more]

@aviantrail Well, that’s an excellent start at least. Hopefully you’ll learn to like him in the next movie.

Welcome to KP, @aviantrail! I second Daeus’ question about Kylo Ren. He’s amazing and if you don’t like him, I’m sure we can convince you otherwise. *ahem*
Do you have a current work in progress?

Hello there! @kaya-young Welcome to KP!
Seems like everyone’s already given you a warm welcome, so…I’m not sure what to ask…um… are you left-handed or right-handed?

@bella-d I could answer this, but I’m most interested in what @kate-flournoy would say since I know she’s faced something similar and overcame it.

@aviantrail Welcome. 😀
If you’re a Star Wars fan, would you happen to also be a Kylo Ren fan?
No death threats if you’re not, but I’m just saying. I think he’s pretty cool. 😛 😉

@kaya-young Hi! Welcome to the bestistest place on the internet.
A homeschool grad here. What type of books does Jeff Bridges write?

Welcome to the forum @kaya-young! I was homeschooled myself from Kindergarten through high school. Afraid I’m not familiar with Jeff Bridges. :/ What other authors do you enjoy?

Hey @aviantrail–welcome to the site! Love that Wodehouse quote in your signature! Are those short stories fan-fictions for Homer’s Odyssey, or something different?

@Jenwriter17 Alrighty, book recommendations coming your way. 😛
– The Hunger Games (Suzanne Collins)
– Divergent (Veronica Roth)These trilogies are both fairly well known. They’re not favourites of mine, and some of the content is a bit iffy, but they’re good for researching the genre.
– Out of Time (Nadine Brandes)
– The Lunar Chronicles…[Read more] -

ooh, this is a cool idea. Tough question, too, so let’s see if I can explain my view on it.
In truth, I think all you really need to do is look at the Bible–specifically, the Old Testament. Many books in the Old Testament deal with false gods, idolatry, etc, but all for the purpose of showing the tension between God’s chosen people, the…[Read more]

@alia Oooh. This is a really cool question.
There are a lot of approaches you could take with this. Most importantly, I think you need to think outside the box. Maybe that means reading more widely within the fantasy genre for inspiration. It definitely means asking yourself what if questions.
One suggestion is to make God an antagonist for a…[Read more]

Elizabeth replied to the topic Cliche? in the forum Fantasy 8 years, 3 months ago
Hey Jackson,
Off the top of my head, I can’t think of a movie in which something along those lines occurs, so I’m not sure if it’s cliche, exactly, nor am I sure that it’s at all practical–although, I don’t know what you’re writing this for, or the world it takes place in, so that’s not for me to say.
Short answer…no, in my opinion, it’s not cliche.
