@dragon-snapper *breathes heavy sigh of relief* Oh good, I’m not the only one around here who’s read Treasure Island. 🙂
@that_writer_girl_99 You’re in good hands with these Classic nerds, but can I add one? Pwease? *bats eyelashes prettily* Jane Eyre. Slightly creepy, but still a good book. 😀

I like chapter titles. Mind you, I’m probably going to end up not having them in my book, because I hate coming up with them, but as a reader, I really like them. They give a hint of what’s coming without being too obvious. You know, “As the Shadow Fell” or something cool like that. Before I start a book, I always read the table of contents first…[Read more]

@that_writer_girl_99 Aww, that must be frustrating for him. I’ll pray.

This is something that I’ve considered with my own WIP, and I decided not to worry about it–for the moment. The reason is that oftentimes, what I want the chapter to contain doesn’t always happen within that certain chapter. I don’t want to name the chapter something unrelated to what happens within it.
But since you’ve finished your draft, you…[Read more]

@aratrea I’m really sorry this is taking me so long.
Scene One: On her journey, Liriel stops at a human town to spend the night. It’s her first excursion into the world of mortals, and because a good friend of hers always spoke highly of them, and she secretly hopes to see the extraordinary side of them that he does.
Scene Two: She finds an inn…[Read more]

Hi everyone–
My brother was going to go to a friends’ house today, but in the process of getting his fishing pole ready for the outing, he sliced open his hand. My mom took him to the ER, and he has to get stitches. My brother just made a travel baseball team for the summer, and we have camps, vacations, and other things that we were planning…[Read more]

@winter-rose @that_writer_girl_99 well, I just finished my huge outline. It’s taken me about three and a half weeks. I’m kinda scared but excited to start writing tomorrow. 😛
I’m going to go take a break now. Great writing with you!

@dragon-snapper bye! Can’t wait for the next LKD (not to rush you along with it though 😉 )
@winter-rose thanks! I kinda fell in love with the story again while I was reoutlining, so I guess that helps.
Oooh, Rook. That sounds super cool! What genre is it?

Elizabeth replied to the topic Spring Writing/Reading Goals in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 5 months ago
I knew you’d have some good ones. Thanks @daeus
Haha…the Count of Monte Cristo, I should’ve guessed.

Daeus replied to the topic Spring Writing/Reading Goals in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 5 months ago
@that_writer_girl_99 I second A Tale of Two Cities and Les Mis. Also (more than any other classic ever) The Count of Monte Cristo. After that: Ben Hur, The Scarlet Letter, Crime and Punishment, The Ball and the Cross. (Let me know if you want more.)

Wow. Okay.
Jane Austen, huh? Never read any of her stuff. And I’ve wanted to read “A Tale of Two Cities” for a while now. @kate-flournoy

@graciegirl lol! You probably picked one of the hardest books in the world to analyze for story structure. First of all, it doesn’t follow a standard arc, and second, there are so many major events it’s hard not to get confused as to which ones are the major ones.
It’s been a couple years since I’ve read this, so I can’t comment much, but I think…[Read more]

Spring Writing Goal:
Reach 15k words in my WIP. I don’t think I’ve ever written anything over 10k, so it’s a step.I also want to read a few “classics”. Anyone have some recommendations?
