@r-m-archer I don’t world-build often, so I’m afraid I can’t be of much help…but I’d love to see what you guys come up with!

@nova21 I have not read any of Brandon Sanderson’s books…but I can give you random recommendations! I highly recommend Bryan Davis’s Dragons in Our Midst and Oracles of Fire series. Some of my favorite fantasy series. Christian, too.

@nova21 The only one I’ve read by him is Steelheart; I’m still in the middle of reading it, but it’s really good so far (a small bit of bad language though, just so you know).

Hi, everyone! I don’t know if you all know this, but I have a second blog called Project Inspire, a site dedicated to equipping and inspiring artists of all mediums to change the world with their art. I have two wonderful guests visiting the blog for Q&A’s in February and thought you all might be interested, especially since one is an author and…[Read more]

@joy-caroline DEFINITELY go with the new idea! I’m a big supporter of working on whatever is sparking your inspiration and excitement. Of course, your beta readers’ work wasn’t for nothing; you can always take breaks from projects and come back to them. And if you’re still wanting to finish TAS and get it ready for querying while still playing…[Read more]

@r-m-archer This is awesome! I’m going to spend some time thinking about this — I do have experience with everything you mentioned except maybe language, but I’m certainly not a master at developing the things you mentioned. I do give a lot of attention to the cuisine and fashion in my novel so if I can figure out a good way to write out my…[Read more]

I can’t edit my OP, but I remembered after writing it that William is (was?) one of the regular KP writers and now I feel silly for not remembering that he does, therefore, write articles. *facepalms*

Hi! I’m looking for a few writers who would be willing to write about developing fictional architecture, fashion, cuisine, and language (respectively). I’m prepping blog posts for a section of this year that I’ll likely be out-of-town and I’m finding that I have a lot of posts ideas for the intangible aspects of worldbuilding but I’m not so good…[Read more]

@ugroza Collin would rather never say anything remotely funny.
Would your character rather always call everyone by their first name or last name?

@joy-caroline Ah they’re lyrics from a song called “The Moon and Sixpence” by a Christian band called Falling Up! They’re my favorite band and quite underrated; most of their songs aren’t explicitly Christian but have a lot of metaphors and stories within, which is one of the reasons why I like them so much.

@joy-caroline You should go with the new thing! I don’t think it’s an excuse to not work on your novel; it’s a break, a refresher. They say to work on two projects so that you can always procrastinate on the other one. (And you’re looking at someone who likes to juggle in between 4 or 5 projects at a time…)
You should definitely go for it!…[Read more]
