Like, instead of putting “he ran as fast as lightning” I would do something like “He ran faster than a tiger with its tail on fire” or something like that. I do, and I think if I did, I would start with learning Dutch, then move to French or Spanish or both, and after that I’d try to learn Italian and/or Elvish.

Lol yes, the race is going to be able to smell light! I may have their most common defect as an allergy to a certain colour…. Although It may be difficult with both that and their colourblindness. However, the colour allergy is a non-negotiable idea, so it’s going into my world somewhere!
