@catwing @dragon-snapper @dekreel
I’m starting a short story on Norse/Viking mythology centering around an Alf named Ualair Fencaryn. (Yew-AH-lair Fehn-CAR-yin). Does this basic idea sound good?
Elf finds a magical stone that transports him through Yggdrasil to Midgard, Svartalfheim, Muspellheim, and eventually Niflheim. Must figure out how to…[Read more]

@dekreel I’d like to have medium-length, sandy-blonde hair (or blondish-brown, whatever you want to call it) that’s wavy with side-bangs, and blue eyes. Fifteen years old, average weight, a little shorter than average height.
Thanks!
Oh, by the way, I am a girl (I’m not sure if my username was clear about that, lol!) 😀

Here’s a few I made for Sector One –
@dekreel (Here are some of those collages… I’m going to wait a bit before I post them on my blog though, because I haven’t introduced my novel on there yet. XD)

@dekreel @sam-kowal explained a motif really well — a reoccurring image or element in a story. I’m pretty sure it could be a symbol too? But a symbol would be more of an object that represents an abstract idea, like Jack Sparrow’s compass represents his choices. A theme is the central idea of your novel: justice, forgiveness, love, etc (and a…[Read more]

@rochellaine. I think ‘Go for it!’ But I do agree with @dekreel, that something for Keeper’s Corner could be better than a full-sized article. You’re right, I’m not sure if they’d publish something like a grammar article on the website itself, but we’ve had one on the email before. It was about whether the (.) or the (!) should inside or outside…[Read more]

Hi People. 🙂
Who here uses Scrivener?
‘Cause if you do, or if you want to, there’s a free live webinar on the 15th (or 16th if you’re an Australian and you have to deal with a time difference) of this month. K.M. Weiland’s promoting it, so it’s going to be good. 😉
Here’s the link for…[Read more]

hey everyone! I just bought three new books and I plan on reading them soon. I wanted to see if anyone of you had read any of these, and if so, I would appreciate any warnings of questionable content. Here they are:
Defier, by Mandy Fender
Swipe, by Evan Angler
Last Light, by Terri Blackstock
btw, is anyone on Goodreads?

Happy Library Lovers month! (yes, it’s a legit holiday. seriously.) Library Lovers day is on February 14th! ❤
Btw, everyone, there’s a Goodreads giveaway going on for King’s Folly (Jill Williamson) and The Evaporation of Sofi Snow (Mary Weber). About 72 days left for King’s Folly, but only 7 for the Sofi Snow one.

@dekreel Hmm… good question.
I think a motif is an element that occurs over and over in the story and sort of meant to become part of the story’s theme, whereas a symbol is simply there to represent something. And the theme is the topic your story is focused upon.
So a story’s theme might be forgiveness, and it contains a symbol of forgiveness…[Read more] -

@dekreel I think what the article said was that a symbol is something that is seen only a few times as an overreaching message, and a motif is something that is interwoven with the whole story. In my mind I likened the motif to a knight’s coat of arms, which would be seen on everything, (shields, clothes, furniture, flags,) and the symbol to the…[Read more]

@dekreel Yeah, I guess I could do that, but I still think grammar wouldn’t be considered important enough, since you can probably google a lot of it. Usually KP likes to publish more general things that are just ideas. Daeus did do an article on sword fighting once, but even that is more complicated than a little grammar.

@dekreel No worries. 🙂 My family uses the KJV, so I’ve been immersed in correct “thee and thou” grammar for years. A lot of people use it as jokes, to make it sound more medieval or something, but an incorrect “thee” sentence is to me the same as “her and me could have went with they to the game if they’re mom might let them.” 😀
You said “I…[Read more]

@dekreel Oooh, that’s what I meant when I told someone here about using “thees and thous” ungrammatically. *cringes* please tell me that was a joke! 😀
Oh, cool! Glad you liked it. I actually haven’t seen that one, but I asked my brother about it and he said it’s not very good, so if you liked it you should definitely enjoy the better ep…[Read more]
