@Daeus I’ll have you know I was racing to get that typed out before you posted and said all my stuff for me. XD
No, good points though. Maps are important… I have them… in my head… XD Allegorical and historical elements too. Oooh ooh, in fact @Joy, I actually have a cool thing for you. Four ‘pillars’ for you to figure out, that’ll give you…[Read more]

@daeus No way! I found out he was offering them for free on Kindle, so I thought “Why not? I’ve got nothing to lose!” Yeah, Dekker can be a little intense, but ultimately, all of his books point to Jesus! If you don’t mind stories that can be dark at times, but always offer hope, then give him a try. I would have to suggest The Circle…[Read more]

Oh! Almost forgot to mention that I’m reading S.D. Smith’s The Green Ember series right now. It is pretty cool!

@daeus I absolutely adore the work of Andrew Peterson, but I also love Ted Dekker’s books. I find it interesting how Peterson was able to create a world that feels real, yet so magical at the same time. Dekker does an amazing job at combining aspects of the “real world” and the fantasy ones.

Ok, thanks @rochellaine ! That’s something I really hadn’t thought about before @daeus said it, and I do see where that would be helpful.

@kaya-young I didn’t really see anything you did badly in the passages you have there, but I do like what @daeus said about defining your characters.
Each character should have a slightly different voice. So, whereas one person says “I don’t know,” maybe the second person doesn’t like contractions, and says “I do not know.” (I have a sister w…[Read more]

@dekreel  @jenwriter17  @notawriter @daeus Ok, so here goes… I honestly am not sure what exactly is wrong with my dialogue, it just seems off. Without further hesitation, I present to you some of my conversations:
“You did a really good job with your prayer! Who wrote it again? Daisy paused, her hand hovering over a box of tea boasting a choc…[Read more]

@Daeus That’s actually really interesting. I don’t think I ever considered how inter-related they all were, but now that you point it out, I’m starting to see the bigger picture of my story and theme as a whole. Because it seems to me like The Depravity of Humankind really is the core, with everything else siphoning off as more individualized…[Read more]

The GIF-hiders: An Easter Story
Part Three: The Flight to the Castle
That afternoon, Jenna opened the door of her house to a whooshing noise just outside, and she gasped at the sight of a sleek, dark red dragon, peering at her silently with yellow eyes.
Jenna’s mouth couldn’t help but fall open, even after hours of mental preparation. But now…[Read more]

I guess this is where we post prayer requests? correct me if I’m wrong……

Hey guys. I’ve run into a problem.
Over the past year or so, my story has changed drastically from what I originally intended—and I’m not even done writing it yet. I started out aiming for a specific end result, but as the story progressed, different plot threads would virtually appear on my page, helping fix certain issues, but also altering…[Read more]

@daeus Are you still the one we’re supposed to ask tech questions? See, I logged in and found a couple times I was mentioned, but I didn’t receive an email (yes, I did check spam). Not only that, but the mentions are no longer showing up in the notification tab, only the Activity-Mentions tab. Did a setting change when you redid the site? Is there…[Read more]

Thanks, @daeus!
You know what? Funny thing happened today. I was actually thinking about trying to write this part, when lo and behold, the book my mom was reading to us (Prince Warriors) (awesome) had a scene where the kids were taught how to use their swords! So I have a rough idea of what the scene should look like.

Hmm. I’m not sure what is causing this. Some tech issues I can fix like getting a comment to show up that’s being marked as spam, but if there’s a solution to this, I think only @reaganramm could fix it.
Hey, I’m getting notifications again. That’s weird. I know there’s at least one that I didn’t get. Thanks anyway; I’ll remember to tag Reagan if it starts happening again. 🙂
