@daeus yes, that makes sense. Thanks!
@dragon-snapper I have yet to try index cards. I kinda get…scared of them. You know, after putting ALL my school notes on them I decided I don’t get along with them anymore. But it might just be the perfect thing for editing 😉
@ethryndal yes, comments are great! My only problem comes when I need to delete…[Read more]

An organizer who can’t organize. The irony 😛
Anyway, I’m currently reading through the draft of my nanowrimo novel and making notes for editing. What I have is a random mess of scribbles. In the past, I’ve organized notes by chapter, but that method has never worked effectively.
Anyone have good tips for organizing notes for editing?

Sorry, my post vanished so I had to resubmit it.
On the first day of Christmas, the DeGraafinator gave to me, Daniel sipping sweet tea
On the second day of Christmas, Stormpoofer gave to me, 2 bloody pages
On the third day of Christmas, Macaroni gave to me, 3 ramen noodles
On the fourth day of Christmas, Mountain Stanton gave to me, 4 pounds of…[Read more] -

@Xonos-darkgrate what @Daeus and the rest already said, basically, on the general subject.
I did, however, find your excerpt slightly disturbing, which is odd, because I’m not usually disturbed by that kind of stuff. It may have been because it lacked subtlety and I kind of just felt like I had my face shoved in a pool of blood for no reason and…[Read more]

Hey, guys. Here’s another question. It’s not the same thing, but to reduce spam and unnecessary posts (which the other forums I’m a part of is very big on), I’ll just keep it here.
Anyways, I know that it’s fine to add darker elements to stories to make them more realistic. (not cursing though, 😉 ), but what, exactly, would be the limit or t…[Read more]

So, that’s Camille, Raphael, and Lachlan? Right-oh.
Interestingly enough, this is already reflecting the results of the three polls I posted on the YWWC. 😛

Thanks for the input guys! 😀
@kate-flournoy @daeus I tagged Kate because I knew she wrote fantasy…I just didn’t stop to consider how long the fantasy was. 😉 My mistake. Haha.

Yeah… @Daeus and @Sam-Kowal were right. I’m the wrong person to ask.

So….I’ve heard a lot about fantasy novels being long, but Iv’e never written anything longer than 85,000 thousand words. Anything that was going to be longer than that I never finished. So I’ve been wondering…how long is the max for fantasy novels?

@salome01w4g Yay!!!
@winter-rose I’ll be praying!
I have a major prayer request. My cousin recently told me that her really good friend has cancer. It’s still a super advanced stage, and the the type of cancer is really rare. Her doctors are saying that she may not make it. Please please please pray for healing!!!

Still writing the plot… Mom gave me a suggestion that there should actually be as many villains as there are writers, each designated for one writer. And they all represent writer’s block. Each writer could have like a writer’s blo…[Read more]

@xonos-darkgrate I’m going to stick with my opinions from the previous discussion that @daeus mentioned. I don’t think that you should have them.
1. Not only do they infiltrate other people, but it’ll also get stuck in your head. I find that the more I hear them, the more I think them. And even if they aren’t “that bad” they still make me…[Read more]

I call it Dragonfly Kiwis  (copyright D.G., because it’s mine. 😉 )

@dragon-snapper This may be too late, but one of my favorite ways to come up with new stories is what @daeus said about taking unsatisfying elements from other stories and figuring out how to change it to be something I would enjoy.
Also, just making lists of my favorite characters/character dynamics is helpful for me because stories normally…[Read more] -
