@bluejay I think I’m going to wait until the next book. I’ve so much reading and other things I need to do this month. I’ve read the Hobbit several times though, so I might join in the discussion. Might. 😉

Hope Ann replied to the topic Why We Do This in the forum General Writing Discussions 8 years, 2 months ago
@dragon-snapper I write for two reasons. 1. I’ve so many stories in my head and they I want to share them so everyone else can enjoy them too. 2. I want to inspire others in the Lord, and for me writing is the way I can do that. Stories have power, and I want to use that power for good.

Oh yes, as for making up creatures, The Dark Sea Annals have plenty of interesting animals and races. The first one is called Sword in the Stars and the second is called The Errant King. *lowers voice* Read them, @daeus.

I’m on, @anna-brie! I’ve added both you and Aella94 as writing buddies, so you should be able to find me. 😀

Lord of the Rings tops the list of epic fantasy, of course. And I really enjoy The Dark Sea Annals by Wayne Thomas Batson. They are very high fantasy and allegorical. There is some ‘magical’ stuff in there, but it’s not magic, per say. More like gifts and abilities people have been given, and then there are those who use their gifts for evil…[Read more]

@bluejay I’ll vote for:
1. Through the Looking Glass
2. The Witch of Blackbird Pond
3. Ella Enchanted -

@anna-brie Ah, so that’s the problem *runs to check* *nods sagely* Yep, I’ve only ever done camp nano, so I guess I’m not official yet. 😉 The site isn’t letting me get on right now for some reason, but I’ll try again tomorrow and notify you when it’s all set up.

@lightningmouse Ooo, those are cool. I love 1st, 2nd, and 4th one especially. I wish I could draw my own characters that well. *sighs* I guess I’ll settle for pinterest. What type of story is this?

@aella ah yes, I’m guessing Hope Ann isn’t that unique of a name. Maybe I should change it…but I can’t without setting up a new account so never mind.
I do have a project, @anna-brie, if that helps. Forest of Darkness. Now, there are two profiles of me right now. Hope Schmidt and Hope Ann. Hope Ann is my new one that I’m going to be using.…[Read more]

I want to have two blurbs. A longer one for the Amazon description and what will end up being a shorter one for the back of the book. The longer one seems to have everyone’s approval. As for a shorter one, here’s a mix of the two which is hopefully more personal but still condensed.
Ancient sign, bitter fate,
Scar and oath and quest
Revealing…[Read more] -

@sarah-h deleting the bolded part seems to be the popular opinion around here, so I’ll probably do that.
@Kate-flournoy I’m not sure what to say to such a recommendation. Hmm, do you think it will look good in the review section on the back of a book? 😉

@dragon-snapper I’ve no idea…next year, hopefully? Though I’ll be getting beta readers sometime this fall. Hopefully. 😉
@daeus I see what you mean. Thanks. (And yes, you want to read it! That is good, precious, yes it is. Wes very happy abouts that.)
@ingridrd And…yes. Always a typo somewhere. Thanks for catching it. 😉

I can’t stand bad writing either. There is only one or two authors who I will read despite somewhat choppy writing because I love their stuff so much. @theliterarycrusader
The War of the Realms might have slightly better writing than the Kingdom and Knight series. I own both those series and I love the stories, but the writing itself? I don’t…[Read more]

@Daeus That’s why one has to watch the movie before reading the book. Because they can enjoy it before realizing how much is left out. 😉 I really liked the movie though, from the bits of the book I do know, some things were made more exciting (action wise). And the ending was happier than the book too, I think. Also, one of my characters from…[Read more]

@anne-bria This is my longer blurb, for Amazon at least. It does look a bit too long for the back of a book, but for the Amazon description one wants to go longer rather than shorter. Or so I’ve heard.
@sarah-hoven I agree with you both about taking off the bolded…here’s a shorter blurb that I could put on the back of a book. I’ve used the…[Read more]
