I’ll have to go soon (birthday lunch with my grandad).
And no worries, Catwing 😀 I’m sure it’ll turn out fine.

It’s going very well (though it’s rather emotionally exhausting). I’m picking out a few common themes that most of the readers have said need working on, as well as a few things that only a few people have highlighted. The general consensus is that Justice is an immature brat (which I tend to agree with) and that Chessy is rather…[Read more]

@alia I am so sorry…*takes drink*…that you won’t be on right now…*slurps*…but this tea is just what I needed!
@jenwriter17 Actually, its not hard for me to research without being sidetracked if I am into it, but its those times in between when I pause researching and am like, “what should I look up next? Â Oh, Pinterest!”

Three cheers for the 20th addition in a long chain of Writer’s Corners! I’ll pass around the sweet tea and coffee, but then I must depart because…school…(that I have been ignoring)

@jenwriter17 Great!  Me too.  I am researching (and getting sidetracked by Pinterest when I really feel like it). 😉

@jenwriter17 Hurrah! Â Writer’s Corner #20! Â *cheers and throws feathers before @catwing gets a chance*
Hey, sorry for dropping out on you without warning earlier. Â My Mom came in suddenly and needed the tablet, so I had to go. Â You still around?

Sorry, my computer ran out of battery, but I’m back again!
Yes, I definitely base characters on people! Usually not purposefully though. I usually just realise, oh! So and so is a lot like so and so.
But I love when those disclaimers are in historical fiction novels, where the characters sometimes are real people.

@seekjustice Well, I don’t base all my characters on real people. Just some of them. But I do learn about character traits and behaviors from studying real people. And I’ve always been sure every other writer does as well. 😉

Hahaha!! 😛
I always think disclaimers that say “none of the characters are based on any real people” are ridiculous, because I totally base my characters on real people.
How else do you write realistic characters?? 😛
I wonder if it’s like the copyright laws, like, if you change ten percent of them they don’t count as based on…[Read more]

Maybe authors should start putting disclaimers in the front of their books:
We do not condone the behaviours of any character that seems slightly antagonistic, and nor we do take any responsibility for any of their evil deeds.
I know, poor Curt didn’t deserve anything that I forced him to endure.
Yes, it’s such an entertaining way…[Read more]

Oh no, they can’t! 😛
Of course he didn’t. Sweet little Curt. Poor little Curt. 😀
Have you ever been on the TV Tropes website? It’s hilarious.

People don’t actually expect us to take responsibility for our bad characters, do they?
Well, of course Curt did none of those things. Because he was a small angel. He definitely fell into the disabled angelic character trope that I see so many people complaining about 😛

Not a chance!! 😮 I shall protect my characters! (but if the mean characters hurt them, that’s not necessarily my fault. 😉 )
😛 Ah, don’t worry. I completely understand! 😀 I used to be extremely melodramatic in my writing, so a lot of my old bits contain characters who gasp and shriek or sob every few sentences. It’s act…[Read more]
