@joy-schmidt
I have some advice…So, basically you suffer a similiar thing to me. You have thousands of stories in youor head, but when it comes to expressing them,m it flops. You loose the enthusiasim and it just goes blegh.
My advice to counter this is to do things at the same time as your WIP, using your WIP. I have multiple character…[Read more]

@xonos-darkgrate I really, really like the excerpt you posted. The voice is very strong. The one criticism I have is that the summary of his early life never really clearly transitioned into the present. He was looking back, and I never quite caught where he stopped and began living the current story.
And I’m already curious about Brandon. 😉 -

@amy-l-klob Aiya! I love history too, but, historical fiction I find can be hard to write… I’ve only attempted two… *shrugs*
But ye shall find that on this forum lots of people are good with writing fictional history, or, at least reading it! (There are a lot of LotR fans, myself included!!!) I can’t say I know much about America’s history……[Read more] -

@aratrea THanks so much for clearing this up! Please understand @the-real-kapeefer that all @dragon-snapper and myself were saying was purely out of genuine concern for you spiritually. Next time, please be a bit more clear as to avoid freaking a few of your fellow kapeefers out.

@amy-l-klob Hey! Yes! I found it in spam. Silly spam eating folder :p Your comments are up now 🙂
Also, Yes I love Sight and Sound!!! I’ve seen quite a few live shows and watched all the dvds. I did audition there a couple times too, but alas that’s not what God had in store for me. I’m so glad you’ve heard of them. They’re truly the best. Which…[Read more]

@dragon-snapper Hey, thanks for checking in. I appreciate that.
Rule #1 does not forbid discussion. It simply asks that the discussion does not hinder peace or goodwill and that what is said in the discussion is used to build up the other person and not tear down. With that in mind it’s okay to share your views 🙂 Also, it’s good to keep this…[Read more] -

@cloudy, Aye! It’s not my favorite, but I did have to go with the underwater theme today. It was good practice though, even if I find it is slightly too messy for my taste. 🙂

@joy-schmidt Hey! Another thing I just thought of today… you know how you like to be satisfied, and how finishing the planning does that for you. Well, my ultimate satisfaction from writing is word count. I’ve been keeping a journal of how many words I’ve written for each of my writing sessions, and keeping track of how many words a day I write…[Read more]

“The Message is not a translation, nor can it strictly be said to be a paraphrase of the original languages of the Bible.” gotquestions.orgBefore I go on a rant of my opinions of the Message bible… @rolena-hatfield Does it go against the forum rules to talk about this? Rule one, to be exact? I just want to make sure…

J.A. Penrose replied to the topic Hi fellow KaPeeFers!!! in the forum Start HERE 8 years, 7 months ago
@the-real-kapeefer No. It was never intended to be a translation. Look in the front of it. Eugene Peterson never intended it to be seen as such. You may be confused by thinking that the word, “Literal” means, “Simple” but it does not. Literal means accurate and Eugene Peterson made it clear the it was not translated from the Greek, Hebrew, or…[Read more]

@dragon-snapper Indeed. Hence I learn my Bible verses direct from there most of the time. *Shrugs* But then again, the Holy Spirit will tell you things in many ways. Even reading fiction, biographies, or absolutely anything. God will get His message across.

@xonos-darkgrate so, des that in your mind mean that God loves us one on one? Does that mean that He is a kind ruler? Or does that mean He is our friend and constant companion?
*Nods* However, that answer was good, I will stop my probing for a while now.

Snapper replied to the topic Hi fellow KaPeeFers!!! in the forum Start HERE 8 years, 7 months ago
@jess-penrose Agreed. KJV is accurate, and although no extremely literal to the Greek, it is still as we say, accurate. I use ESV and KJV and NKJV, and although they aren’t the same, they are all correct in biblical doctrine.

J.A. Penrose replied to the topic Hi fellow KaPeeFers!!! in the forum Start HERE 8 years, 7 months ago
@the-real-kapeefer NONONONO! Please be joking. The Message isn’t a translation. It is a guide that is NOT meant to be used as a translation. And personally I would say that KJV is accurate, but confusing, and I would cross reference between KJV, ESV, and NIV.

@xonos-darkgrate Ah, right. Well, you’ve probably gathered that they are nothing alike, but another site that is a bit better than Wattpad is Sweek? It isn’t Christian, but is not as, well, dodgy as Wattpad. I’m on both as J.A.Penrose. So, if you need a Christian around, I’m there.
*Nods* A good answer. But is living for Christ what he desired?…[Read more]

Oh, and also, a few differences in the wording of a section of the bible does not change the story.
