@Kina-Lamb eeep yes. 😀 I really like the secret agent/undercover mission concept so it’s been really fun to play with. The thing I’m trying out to make it more unique (hopefully?) if having the secret agent character still in the middle of his training, so when he accidentally ends up in the middle of a situation (that a full agent would consider…[Read more]

I have absolutely no idea what I’m really doing. I don’t know why but I got really super stuck on this. So I may have done it completely wrong. *flops*
Dystopian/futuristic setting. Very (very) loose Robin Hood retelling. Positive Character Arc. I guess Will’s external goal is pretty much the same as his thematic development/goal, both of which…[Read more]

@kina-lamb
Fiction! Yes, for fiction! Nonfiction is alright, I suppose, but I’d still prefer fiction. So much more exciting, and there are no rules. Hehee. 😛
I’ve only been writing for about three years, but when I look back at the second short story that kicked it off, I shudder. Just…ouch.
I haven’t heard of those, actually. I’ll have to…[Read more] -

@Kina-Lamb one character travels around through a lot of different countries, so has picked up on a lot of languages. The other is training as a secret agent so had to learn a lot of them so he could fit in during his missions.
I know some French. But my sister knows more. -
Jane Maree replied to the topic Hi guys! in the forum Start HERE 9 years, 6 months ago
@Kina-Lamb yep. ^-^ I have several characters that can speak multiple languages so having at least a vague knowledge of the language really helps.

Jane Maree replied to the topic Hi guys! in the forum Start HERE 9 years, 6 months ago
@Kina-lamb I started Spanish last year. Because I needed to learn a foreign language for school work and I was uttering sick of French + I always thought Spanish was cool + lots of people speak Spanish + I’ve always had a thing for Spain + I want to write a Spanish character who slips into Spanish whenever he’s annoyed or scared because it just…[Read more]

Jane Maree replied to the topic I need a character name! Help! in the forum Novel Idea Critiques 9 years, 6 months ago
@kina-lamb that’s a really cool idea!
Another method similar that I use sometimes is movie credits. There’s some random first and last names scrolling up the screen after every movie and I like to jot down some of my favourites if I have a chance.

@kina-lamb you’re very welcome. 😀
Nice! I’m pretty sure my sister uses a cannon. (and if you asked her she’d spurt out the numbers and letters and whatnot except I don’t actually know XD)
Oooh ooh I’m learning Spanish too!!! *bounces*

Arella–I use roots to make names of cities too! However, the root is so obvious at some points, that I’ll have to switch a few things around at some point so that you root lovers won’t know
firsthand what means…[Read more] -

@kina-lamb Woah! Mind blown! I had no idea @daeus had a little sister! Daeus, There is now a princess in the castle in that dragon story. 😛
What type of stuff do you write? What type of music do you play? How many questions can I ask you?
Welcome from the resident dragon!

Orphan’s Song (Gillian Bronte Adams) is definitely the 1st method too. It’s the protagonist’s journey to discovering her calling/how to use the Gift she has, so everything relates fairly much to that, I think.

@Kina-Lamb HELLO!!! *waves enthusiastically*
My sister @willow-wispowing is a photographer and writer too! (although she isn’t very frequent on the forum) You’ve got some gorgeous shots on your website! *bounces* What sort of camera do you have?
Hand lettering? Ooh I’m soooo jealous. I really wish I could do that but…I simply don’t have the patience. 😛 -
Jane Maree replied to the topic How naming affects characterization in the forum Characters 9 years, 6 months ago
@DelightInLife the method I use when naming characters is often to search up say ‘boys names meaning suchandsuch’ if I want a particular meaning. I sometimes do the ‘unique/rare girl names’ or ‘Irish/Gaelic/Welsh/Spanish/ect. names meaning blah-blah.’ Because then I can find one that fits with my setting.
If it’s medieval fiction, what country is…[Read more] -

@arella-noreen What a pretty name! Welcome to the bestistest place on the internets! I myself want to be an author when I grow up, and have finished a fantasy novel. However, my next is sci-fi, so any pointers you have about that would be nice to know!
