@seekjustice Shaw intended Eliza to get angry with Higgins and leave him, going off on her own to take care of herself (and possibly marry Fred). I like that ending because Higgins was incredibly rude to her throughout the whole thing and acted like he was the only one who worked hard for the change in Eliza, ignoring the fact that she worked hard too…in my opinion much harder than he did, since all he did was yell at her all the time.
In some productions of the play, and in the musical (My Fair Lady) Eliza does get angry and leave Higgins, but then she comes back at the very end, leaving the ending open to them getting together, apparently her forgiving him for all his horrible treatment of her, even though he never acknowledged it, and never apologized. (In the musical he does sing a song about missing her, but she doesn’t hear him. He sings it after she leaves. And when she comes back, he just tells her to get his slippers like nothing happened.)
I’m afraid my argument is rather biased, so I hope you can get a clear enough picture of what happens anyway. 😉 What are your thoughts?
Ah, I see. I actually don’t know anything about Hello Dolly!, except that I know the title song because of Louis Armstrong… 😛 But I’ve heard that it’s an amazing musical, and I’m sure the dance sequences are great. I’ll have to look it up.

I have to say I agree with you. I really don’t like those types of guys or those storylines. They go from just being jerks to be actual abusers (*cough* Phantom) and yet we’re somehow supposed to support them in a relationship with a MC we’ve (hopefully) come to love.
No, I don’t know what its about either, but I do appreciate good dancers. There’s a YouTube show where Broadway actors/actresses dance through their resumes, essentially, and a lot of them do sequences from Hello Dolly, since it has quite a demanding choreography. One of the guys did King of New York though 😀

Its on Broadway’s official channel. Some of the more modern dancers are a little odd, but some of them are really good!
Ah, Whiz Fizz? Yeah, its sort of like sherbet, I think. Its very nice and a staple for Australian kids 😛
