I have wished I wasn’t the oldest before π my best friend is actually the second youngest of eight and I’ve often wondered what that would be like. But being the eldest has perks as well. I feel sorry for my middle siblings, who don’t get the perks of being either the eldest or the youngest.
It won’t be for a while ( and I actually need to work out what to write on) but thank you!

November 11, 2018 at 6:59 pm #77945I asked my sister whether she ever wanted an older sibling before and she said that she liked it being just us two girls. π
Though I’ve thought that having a big family would be fun. It’s like having more people in your immediate vicinity to love. Or get weirded out and annoyed by. π
Haha, right. And to think that you’ll also need to figure out what you should write for your posts on your own blog as well! π
November 11, 2018 at 7:11 pm #77946I’ve often wondered what it would be like to have a small family π I think I’d find it very lonely, since I’m such a poor introvert (not to mention physically living a fair way from where all my friends live) that my family is my main source of talking, hanging out, etc.
It’s funny though. My immediate family is quite big, but neither my dad’s sister or my mum’s brother have kids, so we have no cousins or anything like that. That’s a fact that has always caused me great sadness. Cousins, in my opinion, are like siblings that you don’t have to live with, and that sounds like an awesome thing π
Yep π

November 11, 2018 at 7:25 pm #77947That’s the first time I ever heard someone describing cousins like that. π
I have quite a few cousins myself (a few of them are in Australia!). Childhood was fun with them but as we all grew up, we only ever meet a few times a year now at most. There’s this weird feeling now that we cousins should know each other very well but you don’t really know what is going on in their lives, which can be straining. Doesn’t help that pretty much all of my cousins are non-believers and tend to be of the relatively affluent, successful and self-sufficient sort so it’s really hard to get them to see their need for God. π
Well, this conversation has suddenly gone depressing. Let’s talk about something lighter. What are you planning to write for your blog? Do you have any ideas? π
November 11, 2018 at 7:34 pm #77948Well, all my friends are really close to their cousins and it looks like so much fun!
That is pretty sad π And I definitely know what you mean about those people who have had so much success in life that they don’t think they need God because they seem to be doing just fine without Him.
Well, I’ve been thinking about doing something a bit silly and making fun of some of the romances I’ve tried to write as sideplots in my stories or just making fun of some of my old stories in general. I did think of looking back over some of my past main characters in a more serious way to see how I’ve improved, things that have changed and things that have stayed the same/similar. I also have some ideas for writing about idolising dreams and stuff, but I think that needs too much mental fortitude–more than I have while I’m doing Nano.

November 11, 2018 at 8:02 pm #77949As one gets older, the difference between non-believer friends and believer friends gets really apparent and sometimes it is not easy to handle.
You writing about romance? Haha I would like to read that post! π Maybe you can write your own romance parody and give me a run for my money. π
Are your old romance plots the sort that Myeongwol would like? π
November 11, 2018 at 8:08 pm #77950I’ve definitely been noticing that, especially as friends go off to university and lose circle of church goers they might have had before.
I’m sure I would have plenty of fun writing about it. And I did think of writing a romance parody the other day. Some day, when I’m not doing anything deep and serious π
I don’t think she would. See, it appears I was unaware of romantic tension…or you know, building up the romance whatsoever. I was a fan of instalove, except that it usually happened at the climax of the book. So these two characters, who’d shown no interest in each other whatsoever for most of the story, suddenly kiss and…yeah. Not proud π

November 11, 2018 at 8:15 pm #77951So you’ll get thrown into the Pit of Shame? π
Ooh I hope I’ll be able to do a better job at building romantic tension than that. Granted, I did say that QOD was NOT a romance story but you know what I mean. π
November 11, 2018 at 8:18 pm #77952Unfortunately, yes π
I feel I have improved slightly since then, but I still maintain I’m not great at romances. Though Quillon and Sapphire were met with much acclaim, so maybe I’m not as terrible as I think I am.

November 11, 2018 at 8:21 pm #77953@seekjustice I noticed something about Anastasia in the live production that I hadn’t noticed before, which was the symbolism/parallels between Swan Lake and Anastasia’s story, when they go to the ballet. (I was a huge ballet fan as a kid… π ) I think it became one of my favorite parts of the show.Β Do you know the plot of Swan Lake?
Also, @alia just commented on my Jonas story from a while ago, saying she could finally agree with me that Zac is amazing after finishing When Infinity is Empty.
And that reminded me that you’ve written a scene from Justice and Zac’s childhood that she might be interested in reading. π

November 11, 2018 at 8:25 pm #77954Well, I’d noticed the Swan Lake music in “Quartet at the Ballet” (I’ve been a dancer for too many years not to π ), but I hadn’t really noticed it as an overall thing, having never seen the play itself. And yep, I do know the plot (several different versions of it, in fact).
Oh yes, I remember that story. I’ll have to dig through the archives of my Google drive in order to find it…

November 11, 2018 at 8:29 pm #77955I still maintain Iβm not great at romances.
You keep saying that, and I keep telling you that there are several couples in your Infinity series that people liked. π
- Chessy and Justice (Your sister, Jen, me, possibly others that I don’t recall)
- Sapphire and Quillon (Everyone… π )
- Chessy and Jonas (Everyone)
- Chessy and Zac (Everyone once they finish reading When Infinity is Empty)
- Rain and Kendall (A lot of people who read your first draft, but you took them out of the second draft, so I guess that’s gone. But still, they were shipped. π )
I’m noticing that three of those couples include Chessy, and deciding that she is quite a romantic one. πΒ Did you ever think of that? πΒ I have a feeling that was not your intention when you first thought up her character…

November 11, 2018 at 8:36 pm #77956Chessy and Justice seem to be a polarising one. Either people love or hate it.
EveryoneΒ doesΒ like Sapphire and Quillon though.
And no, Chessy was never supposed to be particularly romantic. The romance between Justice and her wasn’t even supposed to be in the story!

November 11, 2018 at 8:40 pm #77957@seekjustice Well, in the stage play, Odette comes on to dance first, then Anastasia sings while she’s dancing.Β Next Siegfried comes on, and Dimitri sings his part while he’s dancing.Β Then the corps de ballet come on and the grandmother sings, and then the magician comes on, and Gleb sings while he’s dancing.Β So that’s simple.Β But that got me thinking about the parallels between the two stories:
- Both are about a lost princess
- Lost princess is under a spell that prevents her from being a princess (in Anastasia’s case, this is the amnesia)
- The prince tries to rescue her and reinstate her as a princess
- The man who entrapped her/killed her family wants to finish the job (Is he his father’s son? π )
- There is an imposter posing as the princess (Odile, all the “Anastasias”)
What do you think of that analysis?
I watched/skimmed through I don’t know how many versions of the Swan Lake ballet (from Russia, America, Germany, lots of ballet companies) in hopes of findingΒ one where they survived in the end…and I did!Β So I saved it, and that’s the only one I’m satisfied with. π
I didn’t know you were interested in ballet!Β What’s your favorite ballet?
"Sylvester - Sylvester!"
November 11, 2018 at 8:44 pm #77958@seekjustice I hated Chessy and Justice in the first book, because he was not a Christian.Β But that was fixed in the second book – and they had window scenes – so I liked them. π
Thanks again for the window scenes. π
