        @alia Several of my great uncles fought in the Vietnam and Korean wars.  They have a lot of interesting stories!  Two of them were helicopter pilots, one was captain of an air craft carrier, one of them planned the Gulf War – like, actually planned the whole thing.  He was a pretty important guy.  One of them (it might be the same one,) tested the first radio-silence stealth missions during that period.  We’ve got a cool military history.  Do you know anyone who is/was in the military?

        I’m still working on my website, which is almost finished now, and trying to get up my courage to tackle my western novel, on which I lost a couple of important paragraphs. 🙁

          @rochellaine, you lost them as in they disappeared? I hate it when that happens. Hurry and finish it so that I can read your books. Else I’ll start bribing @catwing for real.

          Thats a really cool military background. My granddad fought in Vietnam. He was a sergeant that kept getting promoted then demoted because he was a bit reckless and hard to control…still is for that matter, training horses at 70 something…

            @alia Hahaha!  He sounds like a pretty interesting character. 😀

            Yes, my computer has been acting up lately, and it randomly shuts down for no apparent reason, so when I forget to save things all my work goes kapoof!

            Oh hey! Bobert’s back. 🙂  Did you hear about him?  I imagined him up last night while discussing that passage of my book here after you left.

            @dekreel
            He’s gotten up courage to see you again if you want to come by and write with us.

              @rochellaine, oh he is. A southern preacher and cowboy veteran,  I’d have to say he is one of the most interesting people I know

              that used to happen to me on our old kid’s computer…never fun.

              I stalk this topic, so I unofficially met Bobert.

                @alia I love Southern preachers!  They’re usually much more enthusiastic than our straight-laced Northern ones. 😀  We just started going to a Baptist church since our old church is no longer accessible to my grandmother, who is now in a wheelchair.  While this church is not nearly as enthusiastic as some of the ones we’ve been to in down in Georgia and South Carolina, there is definitely a different feel to it from our old church.

                Bobert says he loves you, and asks if you will come over to our house to play.   (I told him you like kids.)

                  @rochellaine, my dad is a pastor too, so when my granddad comes to visit he usually preaches, and I think scares the congregation a little bit. He likes yodeling and walking up and down the aisles, and not many people here expect that from a pastor. its funny to watch.

                  Tell Bobert I would love to come over, but I have this mean thing called work keeping me away.

                  I must sign off now. I hope to be back later tonight, but I know for a fact that the rest of this week I will be silent

                    @alia Okay, see you tonight!  Bobert seems to have just developed an extraordinary hatred for that thing called “work”, but he’ll probably get over it when you come back tonight.  What time zone are you in, and what time do you think you’ll be around?

                      @rochellaine, tell Bobert that I’m working with kids. maybe that’ll help him get over his hatred.

                      I’m in mountain time. and should be back around 8

                          @rochellaine What sort of books are they? Are they contemporary or historical? (I’m gonna guess they’re not fantasy ;)). Is it easy to get a book on Amazon?

                          XD It actually isn’t bad, for a title. It’s pretty unique. I don’t feel like it fits in with the theme of the book, though- you’d expect it to be middle-grade, with maybe a couple nice breakfast wars, and it’s more about the theme of failed heroism… although. Maybe that’s the point. XD 😀 It would be a delightful twist for the reader.

                          Stan hasn’t noticed he’s not credited yet. 😛 I’m fearing the moment he does. He did make sure his description was acceptable, though 😛

                              @alia I’m back! 🙂  It’s eight o’clock where I live, but not where you live. 😀  Will I still see you tonight as well?

                              @sam-kowal
                              Those particular ones are in a contemporary children’s adventure series.  I also have a science fiction novel (which can also fit into the genre of historical, since it’s time travel,) but I’m much happier with the kids series than my novel.  I’ll be publishing my website one of the next couple of days, so you can read the descriptions there if you like. 🙂

                              If you named it something like The Tragedy of the Cereal Raiders it would sound like a cheesy middle-grade book with food fights. 😀  But I think Cereal Wars or The Cereal Battles or some such similar title could actually be intriguing enough to make someone pick up the book from a shelf.  Maybe you should ask about it on the new “Titles” topic for other opinions?

                                @rochellaine, probably, since I’m slacking off with speech and writing my kinda sorta fantasy novel

                                  @sam-kowal Oh I forgot: Yes, I think it’s comparatively easy to get a book on Amazon, though my brother actually put up those two as ebooks since I was only fourteen at the time and knew nothing about technology.  I’ve just been lazy recently and haven’t done the rest of my books. 🙂
