@seekjustice And I’m the opposite. To me Tangled is an awful depiction of a girl deserting her mother for a stranger she only met that day and who has nothing going for him but a “smolder”?! Yeah, I know that’s not the real story, but I just feel like it encourages kids to rebel against their parents. And I don’t like modern music. Mulan’s story is okay, but I don’t like girl warriors. (Congratulations on selling me on Chessy!) I actually didn’t watch any Princess movies growing up except Cinderella, but I’ve listened to the songs from Snow White and Sleeping Beauty and I love them. The Disney movies I watched as a kid were Mary Poppins, Cinderella, Aristocats, and Jungle Book. 😀
Glad you liked the intro. I also like Scotland’s history. The Covenanters are my favorite persecuted Christians! Have you read Douglas Bond’s Scottish series?
@catwing You’ve never listened to musicals?!!! *faints* I would not be able to exist without them!"Sylvester - Sylvester!"
March 13, 2018 at 9:46 pm #66600@seekjustice Ha, sounds fun.
Throwing musicals?! XD I was wondering what all the weird singing was…
You can pronounce it however you want.
March 13, 2018 at 9:51 pm #66602@dekreel Duck! Hit the Deck, Oklahoma!, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Show Boat, Roberta, Kismet, Singing in the Rain…
I LOVE throwing musicals! And if you heard weird singing, it was probably me. I sing all the time, and it’s often weird – or so my sister tells me. (Disclaimer: I actually do sing in tune. Weird means something else in this case.)

March 13, 2018 at 9:56 pm #66605Other than Les Mis, Tangled was probably the biggest influence on Stars Fill Infinity, Mother Gothel is an awful woman though and she emotionally and verbally abuses Rapunzel, so I don’t blame her for running away. And Flynn is extremely annoying at the start, but I like the way he changes by the end. I definitely agree that rebelling against parents could be taken away from it, but in the end, I think it’s about learning who is right to obey and who isn’t. My mum always tells me that we have to obey her/dad/other figures in authority, unless they tell us to do something that directly contradicts the Bible, and then we have the right and I guess the duty, to disobey (with respect, of course).
I don’t agree with women warriors in general, but I do believe there is a time and a place for them, and I admire Mulan for being brave enough to take her father’s place, and as my mother also points out, Mulan doesn’t defeat the Huns by being a soldier, she does it by being a woman.
Oh the Jungle Book! I love that book, of course I wasn’t sold on the Disney movie, but I really enjoyed the live action remake they did a few years ago, I’d forgotten about it though 😀

March 13, 2018 at 9:58 pm #66607@rochellaine I sing ALL THE TIME. I think I drive people crazy sometimes (I’m singing ATOTC at the moment).
Hey, have you ever listened to The Fiddler on the Roof?

March 13, 2018 at 9:59 pm #66608@rochellaine I survive. 🙂

March 13, 2018 at 10:06 pm #66614Don’t worry, this happens all the time. I think @rochellaine is preparing her rebuttal currently, and eventually we will come to a compromise.

March 13, 2018 at 10:06 pm #66615@seekjustice Of course the book is way better than the movie, but I didn’t read the book when I was five years old watching the movie. 😀 I especially love the tale of Riki-Tiki-Tavi!
FIDDLER ON THE ROOF?!!!!! You actually listen to a musical from the sixties? 😀 Yes! I bought the movie as a Christmas present for my sister/entire-family a couple of years ago and we watched it and all loved it. A couple of weeks ago we were all in the kitchen together (thirteen of us, I think) cooking, and we played through the whole soundtrack. What’s your favorite song from it?
There are varied opinions on whether I sing too much or not in my family. 🙂 I have this problem where if – say one of the little girls is sleeping and my mom tells me not to sing for a while I promise not to. And I totally keep my promise for all of thirty seconds. 😀 Of course, I don’t break it intentionally, and usually only one or two notes come out before I clamp my hand over my mouth, horrified. Thankfully my mom understands how my brain is strung with musical notes, so as long as she knows I am honestly trying to be quite she’s quite nice about it and just laughs.

March 13, 2018 at 10:14 pm #66621@rochellaine @seekjustice *revives* So many musicals……
The only three I’ve watched are My Fair Lady, The King & I and The Sound of Music.
And Legally Blonde if you count live productions 😉
You can pronounce it however you want.
March 13, 2018 at 10:18 pm #66626@dekreel And only one of the three was worth it, right? 🙂
(I detest the plots of My Fair Lady and The King and I, though I like the songs.)
*frowns* You have seriously neglected your education on that score. I would ask that you rectify that immediately before you disappear.

March 13, 2018 at 10:24 pm #66629I love Riki-Tiki-Tavi! I used to have a video version of that when I was really little.\
Um…well…I’ve never seen it, and only listened to some of it, but I’ve read a very long and detailed synopsis of it. But I do like what I’ve heard of it. Waiiitt.. How do you fit thirteen of you in your kitchen??? is it a very large kitchen??? Ours isn’t small…but it barely fits seven people, all trying to cook.

March 13, 2018 at 10:26 pm #66630@rochellaine Ahh, well, I haven’t seen them in a long time, so I’m not sure if I can answer that question immediately.
Yes, I like Rain in Spain and Getting to Know You. 🙂
Disappear?! You’d make me disappear just because I watched an non-educational musical?!
You can pronounce it however you want.
March 13, 2018 at 10:27 pm #66632I posted a bit too early.
It also has awesome dancing.
Yeah, sometimes I get in trouble for singing too much. and I do get asked to be quiet and then I forget. Thankfully, most of my siblings aren’t that young, so I can be noisy all the time, as long as it’s not too late 😀
