I have actually! My brother loves that movie and its very well made for a bunch of students in a makeshift studio. I find it very inspirational.
By the way, were you ever into “horse books” when you were younger? I’m just reading through the TV Tropes page Pony Tales and I’m feeling my preteen reading life flash before my eyes.

January 28, 2021 at 11:25 pm #90889That’s really cool!
Well, my favorite to write and read is mostly the medieval and renaissance time eras. There are so many interesting legends and so much is left for creativity; my favorite part is the writing of mythical creatures.
January 28, 2021 at 11:38 pm #90890We had a table at a homeschool conference once, and the vendors next to us were the people who had made the movie. So we heard/watched it on repeat for the entire weekend. 😛 That was much better than the 2 minute breadmaking video that was at the vendor across from us a different time! 😀
Haha, well, I kind of was, but I didn’t have many. I read the standards: Misty of Chincoteague, The Black Stallion and Black Beauty. And there was one more that I really loved. It was called A Pony Called Lightning or something like that. I don’t know who it was by, and I haven’t thought of the story in years, but I think it was about a wild pony on the western plains.
Now I’m thinking that Misty and Lightning are probably solely American books. 😛 Were there any specifically Australian horse books that you read?

January 28, 2021 at 11:56 pm #90891Yeah, give me Jericho over breadmaking any day 😛
Oh I love Misty of Chincoteague and all the other books by that author (I have a lot of them!) and I read The Black Stallion, and Black Beauty of course. And yep! There’s a few Aussie pony books that I loved as a child. The Silver Brumby was a great one. and I also really liked an author called Alison Lester who wrote a lot of Aussie horse books.

January 29, 2021 at 12:04 am #90892My little sister really loves horses. (We have three, for which she and my older sister are the main caretakers) I’ll have to look those books up and see if I can get her some.
I can’t remember if I ever mentioned it to you before, but I keep thinking of it and then forgetting whenever we chat…have you heard of the musical Man of La Mancha? I think that’s one you would really enjoy. The songs are amazing, (In my opinion, of course, 😉 ) and the story, which is based on the classic, Don Quixote has several similar elements to other stories you like. (Have you read Don Quixote?)

January 29, 2021 at 12:45 am #90894The Little White Horse by Elizabeth Goudge is another one I really liked, though its English and less a pony story than a story that happens to have a pony in it.
I think you’ve mentioned it before but I haven’t actually listened to it! And no, I haven’t read Don Quixote. It always seemed a little weird to me and its so long that I haven’t bothered yet.

January 29, 2021 at 1:06 am #90895Thanks for the suggestions. 🙂 I’ll definitely look into them.
Yeah, it always seemed weird to me too, and very long. But when I found the musical I was surprised at how well it made sense. I think they must have condensed and changed it quite a bit to fit it into a musical. If you find time to listen to it sometime, I’m sure you’d enjoy it.
I’ll be signing off now. Talk to you later!
