I come before you two today to bequeath a request…ahem. Both of you guys have awesome sites, so I just wanted some advice on what I should do with mine, haha.
I don’t really want to blog, but should I set up a space for announcements? If so, how should I do it? Or should I do a newsletter instead? And if so, do any of you guys know how?
Do you think that I should add one of those things that logs what stage I am in a project? Anything else I should add? Any ideas?
If anyone else has anything they want to add, please chime in!

If hours don't turn into daysCool website! 😀 I definitely think it’s a good idea to have a website, but a email list/newsletter is also SUPER important for updates and things (more so than a blog, in my opinion). I use Mailchimp to manage my email lists and newsletters, which has worked out well for my author business so far. 🙂

Anyway, I do recommend having some space for announcements. The only ways I can think to do that would be through like a blog, newsletter, and/or social media account. (Though, a lotta people will tell you that social media does not do that great of a job for these kinda things.) If you wanna go with a newsletter, then I recommend checking out MailChimp or MailerLite. They’re some really great places to go with for newsletters.
I’ve heard some people say that authors should have things like progress bars on their sites but I don’t really think it’s all that important. But if you wanna add something like that to your site, then I say go for it! Hmm…there’s nothing else I can think of right now. I hope this helps!!!!!!!

If hours don't turn into days@devastate-lasting Well…sorry it’s taken me so long to get to you! You’ve probably made up your mind now, but I’ll put in my two cents anyway (I tend to do that XD).
#1 Thank you!
#2 I would definitely recommend a newsletter. It can be weekly, monthly, annual–whatever fits you best. As for an announcement space, that could be a blog. There are a ton of authors who don’t really blog regularly (or at all), but they give announcements in their blog area–sometimes once or twice a month, sometimes every two or three months.
#3 I don’t know if the progress plugins work on a Weebly site (someone correct me if I’m wrong), but I just have a section in my newsletter dedicated to my writing progress, since I’ve got a Wix site. If you could add in the progress plugin, that would be so cool!
#4 Well, Wix has an email marketing thingamabob, so I just use it…however, there are things like Mailchimp (prolly one of the best/most popular ones), or you could even use an email template on Google Docs and just send out your newsletter manually to get started.
All in all, I would totally do a newsletter! And I love your site too!

@gracie-j Thank you so much for your input! Yeah, I think that a blog space for announcements would be the best way to start out for now. I did find a progress bar plugin for Weebly, so I think I’ll be playing around with that! And Weebly also has an email thingy but it looks like I’ll have to spend to use that effectively…do you know how much the Wix one costs? I think I’ll probably either start out with Gmail while everything’s still small and then transfer over to something else when I have an income from my writing…or I could just rely on having a Discord server for now. ;-;
