I get the whole writing thing, I had planned on publishing my book this summer, but I have barely started the second draft (I wanted the 3rd draft done by the end of this year)

Oof. Yeah rewriting is hard. I made a post on my blog a bit about why I haven’t been writing. But yeah I need to do some more writing soon.

Yeah, that’s hard. I find when I’m in a stitch like that that going back to characters can be really helpful. For me, that’s where a lot of ideas for how to integrate subplots into the main plot comes from exploring various facets of the main and side characters.

Hey, so does anyone else ever enjoy the idea of writing more then the writing? Maybe that’s just me, but I’ve been struggling to write. I want to write, but still struggle with actually doing so. Idk if it’s just not fun, or if it’s because it doesn’t seem as great as I’d like it. Idk.
just wondering if anyone else feels this way? I don’t want to take a break cuz I want to write this book, but struggling some lol

I would say that there are different times when I definitely feel that way, and sometimes taking a short break to refocus is good. (with my procrastination it turns into months, but I would suggest maybe just taking a week away with no writing before starting up again). But there is no shame in taking a break. Its very easy to get burned out if you don’t ever let yourself relax and have time away from your project
I’m going to go for a little bit, I’ll probably be on again in a couple of hours though

I TOTALLY feel you, girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I always say that its easier to talk about writing than to actually do it. It’s NOT JUST YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think just about every single writer out there struggles with this! I think its more because even though we enjoy writing it takes a LOT of mental energy and we always worry that it’s not very good. At least, that’s the problem with me. But you can TOTALLY write this novel!!!!!!!!! We’ve ALL got your back!!!!!!!!!!!! If the story’s in your heart that’s ALL you need to keep going!!!!!!!!!!! For me I just try to keep my focus on what I’ve done more than what I need to do. I hope this encourages you!!!!! It’s actually SUPER encouraging to me to know that other writers out there are struggling to write. To know I’m not the only one!!!!!!!God gives His hardest battles to His strongest soldiers.

@godlyfantasy12 yes, I get that. That’s actually how I’ve felt lately. There’s this contest called the Writer Games that starts tomorrow, and I’m going to do that and try to find my spark.
The pen is mightier than the sword, but in a duel, I'm taking the sword.
