I suppose Natalia is sort of that entire known world, but for some reason it seemed to me more like a kingdom in a wild, unknown land.
I wonder if there’s a thing on here for Antagonist development. Or maybe we should start a new one.
Uniqueness… That may turn out to be a struggle, especially as I’m not entirely sure which character it is.

Where'd I get ya this time? The liver? The kidney? I'm runnin' outta places to put holes in ya.
March 11, 2022 at 1:27 pm #109491Wow, thank you for telling us! (I love that clip of Nia, the dear, brave heart.)
It’s good, different, but good. It also has a dangerous tendency to pull you into it’s world and not let you go! XD
You have listened to fears, child. Come, let me breathe on you... Are you brave again? -Aslan
March 11, 2022 at 1:38 pm #109493Thank you!!!! They’re doing such an awesome job of it, I might actually try to watch some when it comes out!
And that probably sounded strange. Explanation; being someone blessed with an extremely vivid imagination I find myself disappointed by movie adaptations of books I perhaps only skim read.
But this looks good, so I MIGHT get up enough courage.
Totally! It’s on my mental shelf up there with C. S. Lewis, although I wouldn’t recommend it for as young an audience as I would Chronicles of Narnia. Mainly because some parts would be really weird if someone doesn’t understand the abstract.
Although you’ve probably heard all that before. =]

Fork the GorkApril 13, 2022 at 2:00 pm #109838Hey, you guys. I’m trying to write a Wingfeather Saga fan fiction and I need your help with ideas.
So, if I remember correctly, the Overseer never had a specified backstory within the Wingfeather series. Like, we knew he was a bad guy… but how did he get that way? He wasn’t like the Fangs, he was a human. Something had to happen to make him act the way he did.
Based on that, I want to write a story about his backstory and maybe what made him so evil. But… I don’t know where to start. I need ideas. And I need to know if this is a ridiculous idea or not.
So does anyone have any ideas on what his backstory could be? Any feedback on my vague idea? Anything is appreciated!

April 13, 2022 at 2:44 pm #109843I love that idea!!
To be honest, it’s been a bit since I last read The Wingfeather Saga, so I honestly can’t remember where the Fork Factory was… or what it was for…
I really should read them again XD
Okay, I just found a Wingfeather fandom page online and refreshed my knowledge, so I’m good to go 😉
I would definitely re-read the parts with the Overseer (if you haven’t read them recently), just to get an idea and a feel for his character. You never know what might pop out at you.
Here are some things to think about…
1. Did he grow up in Dugtown, or somewhere else?
2. What was his childhood like? Was he poor or rich? What were his parents like?
3. Did he do something to catch Gnag’s attention (or the attention of a Fang captain/general)? Maybe he was working against Gnag/the Fangs until they were so impressed by him that they hired him?
4. What tragic event(s) could have made him so cruel? Betrayal? Mistreatment?
5. Why does he hate children? Is he secretly afraid of them?
6. Why does he wear a top hat? (that one is just for fun 😉 )
Keep us posted on how it goes!! 🙂

April 13, 2022 at 4:32 pm #109868Sounds fun!
I don’t remember if his backstory was mentioned, but I think not. Hmm…it would be interesting. Here are a few random questions;
- Does he view ridge-runners in the same light as children?
- Has he ever been a Strander?
- Does he remember before Gnag?
- What is his motive/ does he believe what he is doing is wrong?
- What is his real name?
Ok, so that last one is something I’ve wondered about. I have no idea.

Fork the GorkApril 13, 2022 at 4:58 pm #109875Yeah, I actually just read North! Or Be Eaten a few weeks ago, so I think it’s pretty fresh in my mind. Ooh, those are great questions! That’s a great idea for him to actually be afraid of children inwardly… maybe that’s because of something that happened in his past too.
Sure, I’d be glad to keep you posted! I may even post the link to the story once it’s done.
Also great questions! I’ve wondered about the last one as well. Do you (or does anyone else) have any ideas on what his name could be? I’ll work on finding some good names. Some of that also might depend on his backstory for me, as I like to pick out names after I have determined some of the character’s personality and backstory.
