For me, South Australia really looks like Victoria. If we didn’t have a big sign saying “Welcome to South Australia” I wouldn’t know when we crossed the border.
And yes, it is very bushy.
I have been to the seaside. Quite a few times. 🙂 No, Victoria doesn’t have palm trees. If they were anywhere in Australia it would be Queensland. (@clairec Do you have palm trees?)
The seasides that I have been to aren’t too rocky.
Pretty much (for me) when you get to the beach, there are less trees and more grass tussocks.
Oh and I forgot. We actually have rainforest about 15-20 minutes away from where I live. How could I forget?!?!
My family is in the middle of editing a movie that we made. When we put it on YouTube I’ll post the link for you. (I can guarantee that the movie is okay, but I have no idea about the clips that run down by the side, so maybe get the pictures checked first, if you need. YouTube can be really bad.) But if you do watch it, it will give you an idea of what kind of plants are around where I live.

August 15, 2016 at 2:44 am #15759August 15, 2016 at 2:52 am #15760@clairec Definitely. *I star in it as the main female* 😀 😀 😀 (it should be soonish. The comp ends in September so it will have to be done before then.)
August 15, 2016 at 2:54 am #15761@bluejay Yay, we’re on at the same time! 🙂 It’s nearly midnight here. Wow, you live near a rainforest?! What is it like? Are the animals different? I look forward to watching your movie! I’m sure seeing it will help me to understand a lot more. Some things are hard to explain with words.
August 15, 2016 at 2:57 am #15762@sarah-h Yep. Only it’s nearly 5pm here. 🙂
Yes, I know. It’s pretty awesome. Um, the only difference with the animal, are the lyrebirds are more common there. They like the wet ground.
Good. I hope you enjoy it when you see it.August 15, 2016 at 3:01 am #15763Let me see if this image will work:
August 15, 2016 at 3:01 am #15764Oh bother it didn’t. I wonder what went wrong.
August 15, 2016 at 3:03 am #15765Let me try again
August 15, 2016 at 3:04 am #15766@ClaireC Don’t worry about it! 🙂
August 15, 2016 at 3:05 am #15767Yes!!!!!!!!!!! Success. @sarah-h In case you were wondering, this is a lyrebird. Called that because of the shape of the brown tail feathers which look like the instrument, the lyre. (As a child I use to think it was because it lied. A lyrebird has the ability to mimic other bird calls, so that’s kind of like lying.) 🙂
August 15, 2016 at 3:08 am #15768@bluejay That’s beautiful! It’s a lyrebird, right? That tail is amazing. Thanks for posting the picture!
August 15, 2016 at 3:09 am #15769Oh. Right. We were posting at the same time. 🙂 That’s neat that it can mimic other birds. Here we have mockingbirds that can do that, but they don’t look nearly so spectacular.

August 19, 2016 at 3:44 pm #15966Wow @bluejay, now I want to go to Australia! I used to be really into birds (to the point where I said I wanted to be a professional ornithologist), but I never saw that kind before. Ohio has some pretty neat birds, but their tails are all short. 🙂
What is the general climate of your section of the globe? Ohio is going through its hot and humid season right now. It’s nothing compared to Florida, which gets 90-100 degree days (in Fahrenheit– I think in Celsius that is about 32.2-37.8 degrees) with high humidity, but it’s still uncomfortable for a lot of us. At this time of year we’re usually between 80 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and after doing the math on the first Fahrenheit reference I just realized that my computer translates to Celsius for me if I hover the mouse over the reference to Fahrenheit. Wow. Never knew that before. So 80 degrees Fahrenheit is roughly 26.6 degrees Celsius.
Do you have highly contrasted seasons?YA Fantasy Writer
