Your parents don’t like the author conservatory? Or is it just because you’re so busy? You can join in your 20s (or are you already there, lol?). I’m hoping to do it in my 20s but that won’t happen for another 2 or more years sadly. My mom wants me to use the next 2 years to improve my writing/adult skills before even considering the author conservatory. I learn fast though so maybe next fall. I can’t pay for it rn anyway. I’m hoping my parents will chip in a little. They said they’d pay for half if I paid for a car myself.

@devastate-lasting Sorry your life isn’t going well. I totally get that! Life is really hard in the season I’m in too but I keep praying and it helps a lot. Writing takes my mind off stuff and I’m not currently in school college or high school so I have more time on my hands (although I am teaching my siblings).
@sarafini I’m in college right now studying something else so I don’t really have time to fully commit to something like that, lol. Plus I think they expect me to go right into the workforce afterwards so idk if there will ever be a chance for that, haha. Plus it seems expensive.
Aw, I’m glad you have time to write! I’m hoping things will get better one day but y’know, it’s whatever at this point. Just got to keep walking.

@devastate-lasting Aw, that sounds rough. What are you studying? Just curious, but have you ever gotten the starving artist talk? I know that a lot of people don’t think writers can make a living but many do and I intend to. I’ve gotten a lot of encouragement from Brett Harris’ website (the young writers website) on that. I know writing for a living isn’t for everyone but I do recommend you check that out if you really want to make a living off of your writing. I’ve also been told you don’t need college to make a living off your writing so if you wanted to pursue that even part-time, you could without going to college/the author conservatory for it. Anyway, I hope things get better for you too and that this encouraged even just a little bit. I’ll keep you in my prayers.
@sarafini I’m studying computer science right now, haha. Very different from most things. Depends on which starving artist talk, lol. I’m literally in CS in order to make a living one day, so… To be honest, I don’t know if I’ve been more burned out from writing or from work, but I’m trying to find a balance…kind of hard. But in ten years I want to write full-time, after making a lot of money. I’m not sure though. Trying to figure that out. I appreciate your prayers though!

Oof, yes, I get that. Same here. I need to finish my novel by the end of July, so I’ve got to figure out how to balance that and starting work full time(ish). When does work start for you? Where are you working?

I work at an orchard! It’s really nice because it’s time outside, not using the creative side of my brain. With how much effort Author takes, it’s a huge blessing to be able to turn my brain on autopilot for a while.😂
