Lol yeah. We thought about keeping it a secret at first and then we just couldn’t. 🤣
lol! XD

January 6, 2023 at 3:16 pm #128108Good to see you too! Yeah, life looks rather crazy for me as well, although the Bible Quiz Tournament this weekend has my brain stuffed with Ephesians and all other upcoming activities cast behind a veil of stress. XD
Glad you think it would be fun!
I’m also glad to hear they’ll have it up in the near-ish future!
Great ideas! Sounds like fun!!
Thanks! Glad you think it’d be fun and it wasn’t just a momentary lapse of insanity on my part… Although maybe it’s that too.
I would love for kp to have more content, the articles and stuff are fun.
Yes, they are!
Idk about our other comic people’s here, but one comic page takes me about 3-4 hours I believe? That’s with it already written, and does not include scanning and editing. Idk, I’ve never timed it, they just take forever XD I wouldn’t be able to much of that for kp, but maybe some of our other comic peeps have the time!
Ok, I totally get that. My completely normal drawings can easily take four hours – if not more, considering that several have taken multiple days. Especially since one can’t spend every waking minute with one’s pencil. When I did coloring pages for our Children’s Church, I would often spend all Saturday smudged in graphite and ink. A comic strip would be a ton of work.
One of my thoughts was that we could do it in a rotation with each artist taking a turn. That way, each artist gets a break and a set schedule. Plus, we’d see different styles, which could be fun.
Also, we could make a post/forum where we could share ideas and concepts etc. For instance, I often make up comic style scenarios on the random, but I don’t know how to put them in comic format. I could share these ideas for an artist to use if they need inspiration. Or maybe if there were set characters, the concept art could be shared so each artist would have something similar to work off so the characters would be recognizable. It would be a multiple author thing, but as such it might offer a great opportunity for growth.
And all that might be an absurd amount of work, but it’s only an idea anyway.
And yes, the roleplays could be classified as madness as well 🤣
Absolutely. Our poor charries. XD

January 6, 2023 at 3:27 pm #128110That really does sound like fun, and I think it could help me develop my comics better. I could see that as being a viable option for the summer, when we all have more time. It sounds like fun! Don’t think I could participate during school XD maybe some other people would be able too though. And yeah, just an idea. Not saying I would do it, idk what weirdness life has to serve for my summer this year lol.

@devastate-lasting. Welcome back!
I’ve wondered the same thing about the articles and stuff, but the forums, as everyone has already mentioned and shown, is very active! 😀
But I totally understand being busy, girl. I am currently trying to navigate the waters of High School. And trying to write and spend time with family on top of that. XD
But what have you been up to? We haven’t talked in a while! I know we did not long after I first joined, but that’s been a while!
How’s life? <3
January 6, 2023 at 8:26 pm #128156@mineralizedwritings Wow! You’re good at drawing! And your WIP sounds quite interesting, though I don’t think I want to live in that world, haha. I prefer giving critiques in Google Docs, so if you ever send it in that format, I’d be glad to look at it!
To be honest, I feel like most of my “slice-of-life” plots are full of just drama and sadness, but from the ones I’ve read the best ones are comedies. Maybe I should relabel the genre as realism…
I did work on fantasy crime short stories, so usually with an investigator looking at either crime groups or serial murderers. My current novel is non-fantasy though, and it’s just about a lot of crime groups in a city and their fall. I’ve tried sci-fi, and I want to write more of that, and I want to try horror and absurd comedy. They both seem really hard though…
@folith-feolin Gotcha!
@esther-c Nice to meet you Esther! Wow, another YA dystopian! What’s yours about?
@elishavet-pidyon Bible quizzing is always fun! Ephesians is an interesting book, both literary and content-wise. I hope you did well!@freedomwriter76 Heyyy nice to see you again! It feels good to be back. High school is indeed one of Them Things.
My life is currently…kind of a mess, lol. About halfway through college, and I really haven’t been able to get in as much writing as I want. Been kind of neglecting my health for academics, and every day is just studying…at least, it will be next week, so I’m trying to just waste the rest of my break for now.

If hours don't turn into daysJanuary 7, 2023 at 12:33 am #128171Thanks! And I’m glad you think it sounds interesting! It gets better, the outside world is actually quite nice with the lack of human habitation for so many years, it’s just a bunch of fear and stigma.
I’d agree, although I haven’t read a lot of slice of life, I like the comedies. I had to read some excerpts from “Growing up” by Russle baker for school, it was really good.
Your crime stories sound interesting!
Horror? 😳 oh my XD
What is absurd comedy? I’ve never heard of it!

Hello and welcome (back) to this awesome community! I’m Caitlyn, @booksandbeakers, a homeschooled, science-loving, Jesus-following writer, and I think I’m pretty active. I joined just a few weeks ago, and already my writing has seen leaps and bounds!
I like short stories (I posted one on here) and my WIP is about a girl who lost her mother, her brother eloped, and has an alcoholic, distant dad. She gets accepted to a prestigious art conservatory and decides to search for her long-lost brother.
Fun fact about me: When I was stalking the forum on KP, I could not figure out what WIP stood for, even though I had been a writer for years! And then one day it hit me… Work In Progress (it does mean that, right?)
Anywaaays…
Welcome and hope to see you around!!
January 7, 2023 at 9:53 am #128181Wow, another YA dystopian!
Lol ikr?!
Here is the rewritten blurb: (I keep rewriting it XD)
Twenty years ago, The Orb was put over all Aletheia by Bayron Len. Amidala Nadir and Everton Barlowe along with their families have been trapped in The Orb. Slowly but surely, The Orb closes in on Aletheia until it is down to just a few cities, the District of Daemarrel. And that happens to be the district in with Amidala and Everton live. When a gang succeeds in assassinating Bayron Len, everyone expects things to go back to normal. But it doesn’t. The Orb doesn’t disappear. And Len’s last words puzzled Amidala. She was the only one to hear them. When she shares them with Everton, they slowly unravel his riddle… and it starts to reveal a deadly secret. Will they be able to fix everything in time? Can they do what Len attempted to do in twenty years, in less than one year? In the end, they know what they must do, but it could cost them their lives. Will they succeed? Or will the darkness subdue them?
So that’s pretty much the Endoxos Trilogy in a nutshell! A very small nutshell. Lol
(I don’t have blurbs for the individual books, tho.)

January 7, 2023 at 10:29 am #128184@mineralizedwritings Absurd comedy is basically a type of surrealism where the comedic part comes from the ridiculousness or unlikeliness of the situation. I’ve seen some great shows that are like that, but I’m not too sure how to implement it in writing yet, fufu.
@booksandbeakers Nice to meet you! Your WIP sounds quite interesting! Does it have a title?
@esther-c Sheeeee that sounds very interesting! How much of it have you written?Lately, it's been on my brain
Would you mind letting me know
If hours don't turn into daysJanuary 7, 2023 at 10:44 am #128186I’ve written about two-thirds of it. Which is like 20 chapters. My books aren’t super long. At least this one won’t be. I have a feeling books 2 and 3 are going to be a little longer, tho.

January 7, 2023 at 11:50 am #128192@esther-c Whoa, that’s really long! I really struggle with writing long works, lol. I always barely meet whatever word count I want them to be.

If hours don't turn into daysJanuary 7, 2023 at 12:29 pm #128197Oh interesting! i might have seen some of that before actually. My dad really likes this old show called the three stooges, it has some moments like that. It’s quite racist at times (being such a old show) but I think his justification is that because he’s half Asian it’s not racist for him to watch it 😂 I didn’t know much of what was going on in it as a kid 🤣

January 7, 2023 at 1:37 pm #128202@mineralizedwritings Lol yeah it’s something similar to Alice in Wonderland or something like that, where nothing makes sense.

Oh, I love absurd comedy, but I didn’t know there was a name for it until now. Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite books because of it. I also have a couple (more mild) horror stories, but I haven’t shared them because I didn’t know there were other authors on here that did horror. Do you have any finished or published books?
