Three wishes? From a genie? What was a genie? Viktor but his lip and cast a quick glance at Reúven. His cousin only shrugged.
“Ah…” He didn’t want to make it awkward by asking what the thing was, so he just smiled and clung to the “three wishes” part for dear life. “I’d want my family to be well, my home to be safe, and,” he bent his head in thought. “And to be faster than Reúven.”
Laughter erupted and Reúven elbowed his ribs.
“Thanks, brother. That’s quite thoughtful.”
“Oh, you’re welcome.” He smirked wide and untangled his hands from his cloak. Still, he left them disguised in the folds of wool.
Of course he wouldn’t really ask to be quicker than Reúven. He just didn’t really care to share his real wish.
It was time to move on anyway.

Ev looked at Ami with a twinkle in his eye, using his look to ask for her opinion. She shrugged slightly and shook her head.
