I saw that coming and really didn’t want to.
oh why are you so mean! Why are you such a terrible person. *sobbing* (like I have room to talk)
Oh man. He shouldn’t do it, of course! But man, this one is gonna hurt.
One thought.
I know if you choose to punish me instead, I will deserve whatever it is you do.”
He just asked for forgiveness, not mercy. They often go hand in hand, but they are not the same. To forgive doesn’t mean you take away the punishment.
Other then that……I don’t know if I want to say it was good because this is so bad. Poor Alan. But it was a……. hmmm……. a well done chapter.
Looking forward to the next and trying not to think about how long I’m gonna have to wait.
btw, this was playing while I was reading and it seems to fit, (though it’s too dramatic for a soundtrack to the imaginary movie scene, it does capture the feel.)
Man is born for the fight, to be forged and molded into a sharper, finer, stronger image of God

December 21, 2024 at 1:08 pm #192601@linus-smallprint I love how it went to first person! I don’t know why. Maybe it’s cause I write in first person in my current WIP and haven’t seen anyone else use it in a while.
Wow! okay! Cyrus has given Alan a cruel ultimatum. I have no idea what Alan will do in this situation. I mean, Charles has already pointed out he’s not afraid to die, but of course Alan doesn’t want him to.
(BTW, when wizards die do they go back to being humans in heaven? What about when kentors, gorbs, etc? I know you said there won’t be any scenes where they go back to being human on Ehverwyld, but what about when they die?)

December 21, 2024 at 1:18 pm #192605Nooooooo! I knew Charles was doomed.😭 I don’t think Alan will go back to magic again. I find it more likely he attempts to free Charles again, but Charles still dies somehow.

Good point.

No promises, but I will try to post it to you on Christmas Eve.

Your right. A bit too dramatic, like you said, but a good fit.

Thanks! This was inspired by the book of Acts, where Luke is the narrator, but not always present. But when he is there, he writes in the first person. And he is telling Paul’s story, not his own.

Magic in TNPT is an allegory for sin. As when we die and go to heaven we are free from sin and its consequences, Charles would be freed from his cursed body.
December 21, 2024 at 1:25 pm #192607@linus-smallprint That’s what I thought.
What about nonwizards that are still half animal?
also I like how the way you did the switch was inspired by the book of Acts!

When I saw you asking for more, my thoughts were She’s onto me. But this is the way Charles’ story goes.
So what do you think Alan should do?
December 21, 2024 at 1:27 pm #192611What about nonwizards that are still half animal?
I haven’t put to much thought into this. But they are half-animal because of a curse so…
I’ll leave it up to the reader for now.

December 21, 2024 at 1:31 pm #192613I think he should ask the king for time to think and then try to free Charles. He definitely should NOT go back to magic, even for Charles.😭

Devote reddamus!December 21, 2024 at 1:43 pm #192619@linus-smallprint I think letting it be up to the reader is good choice. Me, I can’t see why they’d go back to being human. The way you have your story set up, the different species are a symbol of different nationalities. And I don’t think our cultures will be completely taken away in the new heaven and earth. We’ll be part of one kingdom–Jesus’s kingdom–but I don’t think Spanish people will stop being Spanish and not be able to make their awesome music. Italians won’t stop being Italian and not make delicious food anymore. Americans won’t just stop having their unique melting pot of personalities. Australians won’t just not do whatever wonky thing they have going on.
This could also be me being biased because I have a story similar to yours, and I’ve already decided that those who die don’t revert to being human because that would be kinda weird in the context of my writing.

December 21, 2024 at 1:46 pm #192620oh and why I picked those nationalities in specific?
you probably don’t care but I wanted to get it out there lol- I’m of Spanish descent (and my dad had a flamenco album I used to listen to a lot when I was little haha)
- I’ve been to Italy and I’m OBSESSED with their pasta lol
- I’m an American citizen and lived there all my life
- I’ve always been fascinated with Australia for some reason. So many cool animals. And I think I’ve kinda imprinted on the accent haha (it’s a long story that actually started long before you might think)
