How was everyone’s Christmas? I don’t quite have the energy back to be active in roleplays yet, but I would really love to chat with yall.

January 1, 2026 at 10:46 am #209467Christmas has been different, but wonderful. Usually on odd years, we travel across the country to see my mom’s family, but this year we stayed home and two of my aunts and their families came. We celebrated with them, and with some other cousins we haven’t seen in ages. In fact, my siblings , two cousins from our mom’s side, and me ended up babysitting our cousins on our Dad’s side’s little kids this last Tuesday, which was nuts, lol. (It took all 6 teens and young adults to keep things going well. XD)
But yeah, tomorrow my favorite aunt and uncle and their two daughters will fly back home. They got to stay a little over a week, so this may have been one of the most relaxed Christmases we’ve had in a while. Just doing randomness together everyday, but not stressing to get stuff done before everyone leaves. 🙂
How was yours?

Good! My family spent a week at a beach house which totally massacred my sleeping schedule. When we got home on Christmas Eve, all I wanted to do was sleep. But I got to watch our retired pastor play carols on his accordion which was sooo cool.
On the day of, I just spent time with my family and ate treats. My favorite gift might be my stuffed toy Hornet from Silksong, because I’m a geek and that’s exactly what I requested and got. ? The next day, because we extended the celebration, we watched Sound of Music and ate Christmas tamales.
But I think one of my favorite events this holiday season was inviting my friend’s family over for New Year’s. Her whole family has been a positive impact on my life and they’re also super fun, so getting to be with my favorite people was the best.
And as Elishavet said, do tell of your own Christmas!

January 1, 2026 at 12:39 pm #209473Ours was pretty good! It was just my family, so pretty quiet. In the morning we opened gifts and made cinnamon rolls, and later we were able to make a fun dinner with green bean casserole and lentil shepherd’s pie, two things we had never made before! Me and my mom and my sister spent a lot of the time in the evening cooking, and we watched some Christmas services online!

January 1, 2026 at 5:32 pm #209475That sounds really nice. Relaxed Christmases with all the family and not too much travel are my favorite.
Ooh can I see a picture of the little Hornet? That sounds like a perfect gift. Also, Christmas tamales sound wonderful. I want to do that some year.
My Christmas was surprisingly good. A few days before, my cousins came up and stayed with me and my grandma and I got to spend time with my favorite aunt that side of the family. She’s my good luck token when we go thrift shopping. I spent Christmas day with my parents and my brother’s family, which was really fun because my nieces are finally old enough to understand the concept of giving and opening presents, and watching them get excited over their new toys made me really happy. Then we drove a couple hours to my grandparents house and had a sort of second Christmas with them and my cousins, and then there was a big Christmas party at my other cousins’ house. It was my youngest cousin’s birthday on the 27th, and I played a lot of video games with him, mostly Human Fall Flat. He tried to get me to play Cuphead, but I was too nervous because I know how hard that game is lol. After that I had a sleepover with my best friend ( @ava-blue you need to get back on here at some point I’m not gonna stop tagging you), and then on Sunday my whole family helped my great grandma move out of her apartment. There were Christmas celebrations spread out through the whole weekend.
That sounds like a lot now that I write it out, but I have been told by people who have a better memory than me that that was less than what we normally do each year. I’m tired, but I think it’s actually a good tired for once ?

January 1, 2026 at 10:59 pm #209480It’s going great!! We always have Christmas Day at home on account of my dad being a pastor, but there’s enough of us to still be a party. 5 of us kids woke up before 7, and we woke up the last brother at 7:30 to open presents. Then we ate pecan breakfast cake my dad made and went to church. After church we had Christmas dinner, joined by a few church people, then when they left us kids played Ultimate Frisbee, and we watched a Muppets Christmas Carol. The 2nd day of Christmas was my birthday, and my grandpa came over. The 3rd day of Christmas we opened presents from Grandpa, the 4th day we went ice skating for my friend’s birthday, and now my other grandparents are over. Tomorrow we’re going ice skating for my birthday, Saturday we’re going to watch one of my cousins play basketball, Sunday is probably going to be Kid Present Day when siblings exchange presents, Monday night is our church Epiphany vigil/party, and Tuesday we open stockings for Epiphany. XD Christmas is only half over here.

Oooh, I love thrift shopping! Did you find anything good?

It sounds like you got to spend Christmas with most of your favorite people and that’s great :] Family, extended family, best friend, etc. I got to do that too, and I feel like it was an extra Christmas-y Christmas, even if it wasn’t as big of a deal as other years. The more people you spend it with, the better it can feel.

January 2, 2026 at 9:13 am #209483Yes, I’m horrible ? Also sorry you’re sick. Like I told Loops, I’m telling you it won’t happen again.
But happy New Year! Did you do anything for it?
