Okay, I’ve been thinking about starting a challenge in January to read a poem every day. It’s something I’ve seen elsewhere as a way to help develop smoother, more lyrical prose.
I’m thinking that if you don’t have a good poet on hand for the day, a psalm will do. And there’s no penalty for missing a day, just a challenge to see if you can get in most days.
What do y’all think?
A cup of tea is cheaper than therapy.
December 4, 2025 at 10:53 pm #208892That sounds fun! We could also share and recommend poets/poems with each other maybe.
That’s definitely something I think I need to work on in my writing.

December 4, 2025 at 11:09 pm #208894Yes! That would actually be really helpful. XD
Oh, I know. Me too.

December 4, 2025 at 11:13 pm #208895I can think of two poets off the top of my head rn who I really like: Malcolm Guite (idk if that’s spelled right) and Ben Palpant. Both modern Christian authors.

December 4, 2025 at 11:18 pm #208896Also, my wonderful father✨
If I ever manage to locate his old journals and he gives me permission, I really want to post some of his poetry on here someday.

December 4, 2025 at 11:19 pm #208897This is unrelated and I really shouldn’t be awake right now, but I’m confuzzled

Has anyone else ever seen the time on a comment labeled “right now”? Really silly, I know, but I have never seen that on KP before.
I am out of signature ideas
December 4, 2025 at 11:22 pm #208899@whalekeeper lol nope, never seen that one before. I guess we were really in sync or something.

December 6, 2025 at 1:50 pm #208925Happy Feast of Saint Nicholas!
To the tune of Up on the Housetop: Up at Nicea, the bishops pause, Arius and Santa Claus. One claims a time when the Son was not, one says that’s a heretical thought! Ho, ho, ho, who’s gonna go, ho, ho, ho, who’s gonna go. Off with a right hook, good Saint Nick, down goes the dirty heretic!

December 6, 2025 at 4:32 pm #208932@theducktator Yesss even though I’m not part of a denomination that celebrates that feast, I remember learning about it from the Christmas-themed What’s in the Bible episode (if anyone is familiar with those. They’re great if you haven’t seen ’em).
Did you know that today instead of the 25th was originally the day that children got presents? (Personally, I like waiting almost a month for them instead of getting them right away.)

Same.
Sure! That sounds fun!

December 8, 2025 at 10:35 pm #209010Oh good! His character design is so cool. Hope it works out! Computers can be an adventure.
That’s amazing. It makes sense that it would work, and it’s so cool that it can. Like a shield from some sci-fi book. *Makes a note to look into it before I start my business Instagram account*
Really! I shall definitely try that. Good, fun pens can help almost anything.
I’m sorry to hear that. ❤️ Stress is terrible to deal with, especially with heath challenges and holiday seasons on top of it. Sounds so rough. *hugs* Praying it works out! One day at a time is a good way to handle life. Jesus said to pray for our daily bread, not a year’s supply. He’s got you. And we’ve got you. I don’t think either of us are letting go soon, but he definitely won’t. 🙂
You have listened to fears, child. Come, let me breathe on you... Are you brave again? -Aslan
