@kate-flournoy I think it’s awesome how we think alike on this forum too but for my part I’m also extremely grateful that everyone in my family writes. I’ve never really had to deal with anyone that didn’t understand writing or thought it was silly. #blessed

June 2, 2016 at 2:45 pm #13672Oh wow @Hannah-C! You are blessed! That is so awesome! 😀
June 2, 2016 at 2:47 pm #13673@kate-flournoy thanks, I think so. 🙂

June 2, 2016 at 5:18 pm #13681@Hannah-C that’s really cool. 🙂 I’m the only writer in my family besides my mom (she used to write and publish poetry)…and it gets a little lonely because none of my friends are writers either. I’m glad there’s a place where I get to discuss things with other writers who understand. Y’all are awesome! 😉
June 2, 2016 at 10:44 pm #13711Oh wow! You guys all have great goals that y’all heading for. Maybe I should set some for myself.
Okay this is probably crazy, but……..I want to write 10 short stories this summer…er…I mean winter. 🙂 I have no idea if I can do it, but it gives me something to work towards.
Now my problem is coming up with 10 ideas……*think, think, think…Oh bother* (In Winnie-the-Pooh voice)

This group is a great idea! It’s forcing me to write down my goals?. I’m hoping to finish my first fantasy novel and my fantasy novella. Lots of fantasy. And then start editing. Yay.
June 3, 2016 at 12:26 am #13716Well, I’m just heading into winter, but I’m still writing.
I’m writing a second draft of my first book. The plot changed dramatically over the course of the story and only recently has it really started making sense to me again. Some bit will be pretty much the same, perhaps even copying from the first, others need adding or removing.
I’ts not so much the what that I’m changing it’s the why and how, and even some of the who.I’m also writing the first draft of a second book. Balancing both of them is going to be crazy.
June 3, 2016 at 10:00 am #13722Hmm…I want to write at least half of my novel this summer. That might not be realistic because I have a lot going on this summer, but we’ll see. 🙂

yussss this was a great idea! i’m jumping in late, as usual…sorry about that, my portal glitched. i’m still working on perfecting my magic.
this summer, i’m still working on a book i’ve been writing…hopefully i’ll finish it.
key word hopefully.
that’s all.
nyoom. i’m boring i know, but i’m only 15 and didn’t figure out about this amazing website until the amazing @gretald told me about it. 😛June 4, 2016 at 12:56 am #13752Brave goals, @hannah-c ! You go for it. 🙂
@daeus , did you say, “semi-dystopian time travel save the world story.” because, you had me at “time travel,” and possibly even at “semi-dystopian.” Please write it now! 😀 (Warning: That is my crazy excited face, a good sign you should take a break from this forum and ignore all of my future tags if you know what’s good for you 😉 )Hansel and Gretel, huh? @hope , I wonder how many kids have checked to see if they can fit in an oven since the original telling of that twisted tale? 😉 Sounds like fun! (The story-writing, not the oven bit)
You’re welcome, @spradlin ! Poetry is fabulous. I hope to squeeze in a little work on that myself if I can.
Research, that slightly intimidating, but really kinda fun part of writing that everybody puts off as long as they can … good luck! Let me know how it goes, @faithdk
Ooh, a sequel? The Mirror?! Sounds awesome, @kate-flournoy !
I might use that editing saying of yours, @daeus . It made me feel like a better writer just reading it. 🙂
Maybe it will do you some good to take a break from your fantasy, @belegteleri . I find working on something else until I get stuck and then going back to my original project can help freshen my perspective sometimes. If your heart ain’t in it right now, then your cousin is probably right, but you do what works best for you. 🙂
Your plans sound confusing, @aella , just like mine will I suppose!
Seriously, WRITING IS MESSY. When people ask me what I’m writing, I wonder, “Should I tell them what I’m actually writing, or should I just tell them in one short sentence what I wish I was actually writing?”
That’s the best part I think, about a forum like this. Writer’s get it. 🙂
June 4, 2016 at 1:56 am #13753Thanks @overcomer! What are your goals this summer?
HC
June 4, 2016 at 7:28 am #13756I’ll be starting soon @overcomer. I’ve got about 2/3 of it plotted out and now I just need to do research really.
And use the editing quote all you want. I think I’ll be coming back to it myself.

June 4, 2016 at 12:55 pm #13772Thank you, @overcomer. That is great advice and I’ll take it! I’m so thankful to have people to go to when I need help with my writing! Love y’all!
June 5, 2016 at 12:18 am #13783My writing goals for this Summer are to get a jumpstart on my fantasy novel’s first draft, work on my poetry, finish a short story about a park fountain, and maybe even write a few book reviews. @hannah-c 🙂
June 5, 2016 at 12:22 am #13784You’re welcome, @belegteleri ! I hope your projects work out. 🙂
I second that! Y’all are the best! 😀Awesome, @daeus . I’m not doing much writing yet myself. I still have a lot of note organizing and a little more plotting involved, but I’m trying to do a little writing in between. It helps keep the inspiration rolling at any rate.
I’ve got most of it worked out I think, but I do have second thoughts from time to time. I know I’m not really supposed to rewrite until the second draft, but a lot of what I’ve got already is prewriting, and I think that if I tweak it a bit to make sure the writing style is consistent, it may help me continue writing. I’m going for 3rd person narrative style-ish with at least 3 POV’s, and I want to figure out if that will work throughout or if I had better change it to 1st person. I really like how quirky and fun it is in 3rd, (and it gets some laughs out of my brother, which is a good sign) but I don’t know …
Dang-it! Now I’m realizing that my latest additions to my plot might be too serious and heavy for the humorous, lighthearted style … *groans inwardly*
I’m so glad I ranted to you. Now I just need to shut myself up in my room for a few days and rethink my life. 😉
