Ooooh, I knew these boys would clash. The major problem here is that Ari was already irritated at Wolfgang.

For a moment he just stared at the boy. Impudent, noisy, irritating…
If he was Halir, he would laugh. If he was Heral, he would just walk away. But he was Ari, and what did Ari do?
Bust noses?
It you want friends…his mother’s voice echoed in his ears. He didn’t want friends. Didn’t need them.
His eyes narrowed to dark blue and silver slits.
“You’re new here, aren’t you.” It wasn’t really a question. Ari downed the rest of his wine and pushed away from the table. He knew many of the older students would happily answer the kid’s questions for him, even if they didn’t answer with the truth.
But what did he care?
Swords and arrows. He stared at the empty cup in his hand.
“Ecelilanda, Areth, Cemen, whatever you want to call it.”

There was something dangerous in the stranger. Something sad too. The questions were louder than ever, but this time they sent chills up the back of his neck.
“Wolf…” Wilhelm pushed back from the table too, sparing a glance toward the stranger. Wolfgang was his friend, but he had a feeling taking offense might make the situation worse.
This is what he got for befriending boys who went banging down staircases.

Ellis smiled. He almost wanted to meet his brothers. They had to have some interesting stories to tell.
“You don’t seem like the fairies from the stories I’ve been told… I apologize. That might sound offensive. You just seem more human.”

Moth’s voice faded. He rocked his knee back and forth, face partially hidden behind it. “That’s what I’ve been told. This is a thing both good and bad.”
He idly kicked his foot back and forth. “Have you… been here long? What do you think of it? That’s what you asked me, so I’m just going to ask it back.”

“I like it. I arrived yesterday. My room is nice and the food is good. I’m excited to explore the grounds and take lessons.” Ellis finished the last bit of food on his plate and then leaned back. His pain had reduced to a dull ache and his mood was quickly improving. “I was thinking of taking a walk in the gardens, then finding the fencing instructor.”

Poor wolf is so naive. And he also doesn’t read people well. At least at this stage.

He blinked. “Sorry, what? I don’t know what you mean. Are those words your country’s name? They can’t be your age, unless you have a different numeric system too. That would be funny,” He laughed brightly. “And yes, I’m new, but so are you! We’re all knew here, right?”
