      Haha! She’s back!

No idea how to end this. Wolfgang is reckless enough he could loose, but also skilled enough to win. I’ll let you pick, judging your own character’s skill level, who would win. I will not be offended either way, and neither will Wolf. XD

      Wolfgang

He was fairly dancing now. He’d gotten his breath back and was now skipping about, darting forward and back, letting his sword flicker right and left, up and down. He was just aware enough to see Wilhelm’s point of attack shift. The next moment the blade was racing toward him. Wolfgang had once read in a story about a man who avoided his head getting knocked off by dropping to one knee in a sort of pivoting spin, ending up behind his enemy. They didn’t do that sort of thing in fencing, but it was worth a shot. Wolfgang dropped, pivoted on his knee, lost his balance, did a half somersault and came up again, breathless and laughing.

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who couldn't hear the music

        Ari

He gave the boy a slow nod of respect. Certainly didn’t look like someone who would let himself be bossed around by superficial authority figures.

But his question stuttered Ari’s brain to silence. His name? Everyone knew who he was–or if they didn’t, they sure thought they did.

New boy…Right. He relaxed against the doorpost, arms loosely crossed.

“Ari. Don’t let the geese who run this place bother you…” He raised his eyebrow in an unspoken return of the question. And you are?

          Moth

“Ari,” Moth repeated. A good name, and easy to remember.

          Ari was waiting for something.

“Moth Prince. Son desiderium, child of nobody.” He stepped forward, curving his body into a graceful bow. “That’s a bit of a mouthful. It’s… you know how it is. Call me Moth.”

            Ari

The ghost of a smile flickered into view.

Moth. That… Strangely explained the boy’s oddness. Child of nobody. Well, that was certainly an improvement on his own situation.

“Names, yes. They don’t have to be long to be a mouthful.”

Other residents had started to take belated interest in their conversation. The dark Verenion was taking notice of someone.

            Wonderful.

Ari sent a blank stare around the hall. Eyes turned away, princes disappeared behind doors. Cowards all.

“Nice wings. Always wanted to fly.” Which was a ridiculous statement. He sighed. “Why are you here?”

              Moth

              Why are you here?

Moth paused. His eyes flickered thoughtfully. The best answer was at the tip of his tongue, even if it wasn’t the full answer. “I want to better myself. Learn everything I can, so I can help my little scattered kindred with their troubles.”

He didn’t understand the full truth himself. He laughed without opening his mouth. A soft cackle, hidden in his throat. His fingers twitched of their own accord.

              “What about you?” he asked.

                Ari

Moth looked sincere if a little uncertain. Ari looked away to study the scarlet scrolling on the wall.

                “I…”

better himself…help his kindred…troubles…this boy was good hearted, even if he did seem a bit unsettled.

                Ari was just unsettled.

“Guess I didn’t want to repeat history. Kind of the middle child, so to speak. Not a good thing for your health in my family.”

Or rather everyone else’s health. Apparently.

                  Moth

Moth frowned. He only understood the emotions in Ari’s voice, but it seemed rude to ask more questions. There was the desire to know, and the desire to be polite.

The former won. “Do middle children die easily?”

What had happened to thy profile pic? =|

                    Ari

“Eh…” He shrugged, eyes on the emptying hallway. “Not necessarily middle children. My father was technically the second born if the stories are true. But things happen to annoying little brothers.”

Things no one wanted to explain to the next generation. That was fine. Ari would find his answers elsewhere.

Wasn’t like he could trust his family to tell the truth anyway.

“That man called you a fairie?”

I was messing around with it. Don’t worry, I’ll put the same pic back. :]

I have to say, this is so edgy coming from Ari and I am invested in that. XD

                      Moth

“Yes. That’s right.” Moth’s voice quieted. “King of the fae.”

Ohh! It just let me actually see it. It had you as “Anonymous” with no pic. (Your name is hilarious)

                        XD

                        Ari

                        His eyes widened.

“King? And that man put a watching spell on your door? Black stars.” He shook his head, cursing under his breath.

Here was a king who actually wanted to help his people and the school treated him like a…like a mischief seeking child.

Service around here had gone down terribly.

Although, mischief seeking child did describe most of the fae he’d heard about–but Moth didn’t quite strike him as a frivolous imp.

“I don’t know much about fairies, but you seem a better than many of the human folk I’ve met.”

Oh my word, I just realized the dog in my pfp looks like Toto from Oz. That was not intentional. I gave myself Oz’s title because I’m visiting my Midwestern childhood home, and I feel as if I am Dorothy, returned from a magical land to a familiar/no-longer-familiar place.

“You would have me fall into pride?” Moth joked, bowing thankfully.

He brightened, then checked himself. He waved an arm through his door. “Would you like to… um… hang out? Y-Yes. I could use some help with something. I have food, and I can entertain. Whatever you like.”

“I, err…” He brushed his hair back. Hang? Wasn’t that a form of execution? But no, the students here used it for something else. He had mentioned food. Ari nodded, the movement sending his hair back over his eyes. “Need someone beat up?”

I’m going to try to respond. I have 3-5 hours left on this day’s work. My brain is pudding.

I have gone back and forth between options. Not sure which is better, but it’s about time it ended. Sword fights are usually resolved quickly. *dives into a martial arts lesson on sword disarming* *scrambles back breathless*

I think he’ll use the “serpentine” method of disarming by envelopment.

                                  Wilhelm

The golden headed boy was laughing as he recovered from his roll. Wilhelm pushed aside the impulse to chide himself for missing that moment mid rise when Wolfgang was vulnerable.

There really was no time for it. The other boy was already striking.

The rapier hissed toward him, wide and confident. Wilhelm leaped.

                                  Forward, again. Like a madman.

Forget striking his opponent. This was friendly combat. He snaked his shield arm around Wolfgang’s blade, pinning the weapon against his side and wrenching the hilt from Wolfgang’s hand. His own sword was in place a little to the left of Wolfgang’s shoulder.

He backed up, solemn as a graven image although laughter was bubbling in his throat.

                                  “Parley?”
