One thing I could use some help on is the linguistics for this world. If this isn’t your area of expertise, feel free to ignore this. I know that at least @thearcaneaxiom is interested in this topic.
I have a rather gigantic list of essentially just names. I’ll paste them in here:
Erinyes
Atlas
Perseus
Theseus
Vulcan
Kratos
Proteus
Somnus
Domiun
Mantolin
Eìriar
Valogar
Thentar
Ronior
Iltar
Beogar
Dagomar
Doldius
Hadrinal
Dalosar
Aldric
Gavric
Darion
Thandor
Norald
Sabrina
Edovar
Taliar
Nalodin
Hammond
Manard
Lancelot
Jagoron
Erdorin
Daldon
Elenia
Bertrant
Aymer
Hubert
Engranus
Silenar
Arnoulett
Hedrid
Dromana
Deminis
Nenitar
Anenal
Inenar
Roland
Elinden
Veeden
Lidig
Gideon
Ilid
Valodir
Ordar
Dildor
Alnalion
Daridar
Eleanor
Aniton
Goradar
Kimisil
Cerodar
Dominic
Deresar
Krellis
Idimar
Amos
Kelimar
Selren
Loldin
Varlo
Rodlin
Deleden
Ellius
Alard
Andrion
Cadmus
Talbot
Ridril
Berolt
Hawklin
Emery
Dalaman
Everent
Katilia
Ellis
Richard
Grayton
Douglas
Eldiar
Selius
Denemar
Millina
Diana(These come from my large geneology of the Eìvir lines.) Additionally, I’ll throw in a few more names:
Edward
Dalton
Eojold
Atmor
Percaro
Kaulo
Secrivis
Paligen
Thulac
Vaminin
Eìdershon
So, basically, I’m wondering if this seems like cohesive linguistics. Please point out any names that don’t seem to fit. Another question I have relates to the real-life names I have mixed in here. What do you think about that? What I’ve already done in some cases is have nickname that is the same as a real-life name, but the full version is different. For example, ‘Kate’ is short for ‘Katilia’ and not one of the several full versions of that name in real life. Similarly, ‘Milli” is short for ‘Millina’, instead of ‘Millicent’ or ‘Mildred.’
You’ll also notice that the first several names are from Greek mythology. That is intentional but do feel free to point out if you think any of them don’t fit.
Lastly, just as a note, it is a tradition for the king of Arvendor to have a name starting with ‘D.’ That’s why over a ninth of the names start with that letter.

📚 Appreciator of BooksDecember 1, 2023 at 9:32 am #167609I mostly skimmed it, but the only name I thought seemed kind of out of place was ‘Dominic’. To me, when I hear that name, I think of some punk rebel teenager riding a skateboard, as well as Domino’s Pizza, neither of which are good connections.
Any noun can become a verb if you don't care enough.
December 1, 2023 at 9:35 am #167610Hmm… I didn’t think that was particularly out of place. I would guess it originated from Roman times or something. Let me see…
…
It is latin, but it seems that it was actually from the Middle Ages, which means it fits even better.

📚 Appreciator of BooksDecember 1, 2023 at 9:36 am #167612December 1, 2023 at 9:44 am #167613I’d love to fill out this geneology completely, but that’s not gonna happen. I calculated that to cover the 20,000 years from the founding of the Eivir to the time that this story is set would require 500 generations, which is assuming that each person was an Eivir for 40 years before passing it on, which is most likely nowhere near average.

December 1, 2023 at 9:50 am #167619Technically in a genealogy, everyone is related. Everyone is the child of the previous person. How exactly did you end up there?
Mine is technically nine genealogies in one, so not everyone on there is related.
