“Couldn’t sleep?” Bucky asked as Yelena poured a glass of milk.
Yelena shrugged. “Sleeping is overrated, you?”
“I feel the same way,” Bucky smirked. “What keeps you up?”
“Well… I have been to a therapist, but nightmares and flashbacks,” Yelena started looking around the cupboards.
“I get that,”
“Really? What would a brainwashed soldier have to remember?” Yelena laughed.
“I made a list, of people to make amends with, I’ve crossed off everyone on the list except one,” Bucky stated, being more serious.
“Stark?”
“Yup,”
Silence filled the room.
“Yes!” Yelena cheered, and then looked at Bucky, pulling something out of the cupboard. “Oreos!”
Bucky couldn’t help but smile at the amusing and chaotic girl in front of him.

“What are you doing?” Yelena gestured to Bucky’s glass of milk. “Who dips the whole Oreo in?”
“Who doesn’t?” Bucky was confused.
“James, you separate the cookies from the stuffing and then dip just the cookies in the milk,”
“But in the time it takes to eat five cookies, you’ve only eaten one,” Bucky debated.
“That is so weird, James,” Yelena separated the cookies again, this time giving a cocky smile as she did so.
Bucky took a sip of milk. “Why do you call me James?”
“To prove that I know it,” Yelena gave a clever smile.
Bucky tilted his head a little and just stared at her.
Yelena looked at him. “What is that? Who stares like that?”
“What do you mean? How do you stare?”
“I don’t know but not like that,” Yelena crossed her arms. “You aren’t Wanda, you can’t read minds,”
“That’s what you think,” Bucky smirked.
Yelena rested back in her seat. “Fine go ahead,”
“You feel guilt,”
“Really? An assassin feeling guilty, tell me something I don’t know,” Yelena leaned forward.
Bucky did the same, they’re heads meeting in the middle, like some sort of starring contest.
“It’s not just guilt, it’s pain, you had your childhood ripped from you, taught to kill before you knew how to tie your shoes,”
Yelena’s playful smile turned into a saddened frown. “I wasn’t that young…”
Silence filled the kitchen, the moonlight making her tears shine.
“Do me,” Bucky broke the silence.
Yelena didn’t waste any time to respond. “You’re a terrible flirter,”
“What?”
“Saying hey in a smooth tone is not flirting, plus you do it too much, how is a girl supposed to know whether or not you like her?”
Bucky grinned. “You’re talking about yourself, you’re the girl,”
“I could do so much better than you, we would never work,”
Bucky hid the hurt of the total rejection, pretending to agree with Yelena. “Totally,”
“I mean it would be just like a never scenario,”
“I wouldn’t say never,”
Yelena stood up. “I mean it, it could never happen,”
“Why not?”
“Because,” Yelena started to leave but Bucky stopped her.
“I’m serious Yelena,”
“You’re always serious,” Yelena tried to get through Bucky, but he wouldn’t let her. “Bucky let me go,”
“Why couldn’t we work?”
Yelena shook her head. “Don’t make me hurt you,”
“Can’t we just talk?”
“Talk is overrated,” Yelena did a quick spin-off kick, bringing Bucky to the ground.
“What’s wrong?” Bucky quickly got up, looking at Yelena with empathy.
“We both want to get away from our past? How would being with another killer help either of us?”
“We’re more than that,”
“Are we?” Yelena tilted her head. “We both have people who we’ll never get forgiveness from and those names, on our lists… that aren’t crossed, mean we’ll always be killers… it’s in our blood,”
“Yelena…”
“You’re the winter soldier, I’m a widow, and we’ll always be,” Yelena took this as her time to leave.

I watched Guardians of the Galaxy yesterday! I really wasn’t in the mood for another Marvel movie, but after watching it I found I actually really liked it (besides the occasional inappropriate joke, but it wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been–I know of worse).
My dad says it’s one of his favorites too (besides Thor: Ragnarok, which was also really funny)

Warning: violence and traumatic flashback
Chapter 3
“We get in, we get out!” Yelena shouted over the running plane.
“Sounds simple enough,” Kate started to search through her quiver. Looking confused.
“You got your trick arrows mixed up, didn’t you?” Yelena said, noticing her frantic search.
Kate nodded. “Well… it’s hard because they all look the same,”
“Have you heard of labels?” Bucky teased.
“Or just regular arrows?” Sam got near the edge of the plane.
“Do you want explosions or not?” Kate mumbled.
“Who’s going to jump first?” Yelena asked she couldn’t deny a little fear as she looked down from the plane opening.
“I will,” Sam didn’t waste any time jumping from the plane.
Bucky shook his head at the cockiness in Sam’s look. “I’ll go next, and this time I get a parachute,”
Kate looked a little shaken by Bucky’s comment, but she didn’t have time to ask.
“You or me?” Yelena gestured to the plane opening and then looked at Kate.
“You can go, if you want,”
Yelena tilted her head. “Kate, nobody wants to jump out of a plane, so who’s first,”
Kate shrugged. “I’ll go,”
Kate stepped to the edge and then looked out, she hesitated.
“Are you okay?” Yelena could see the concern in Kate.
“Uh… Yeah,” Kate shook off the fear, but she was going breathless. “I just didn’t think it would be so high,”
“Okay… look at me,” Yelena and Kate looked at each other. “Just breathe okay? In and out, that easy,”
“Okay… In and out,” Kate took a few breaths, stepping closer to the edge.
“Great, you’re doing great,” Yelena patted her on the back and then pushed Kate off the plane.
Kate let out a scream.
“You’re doing great!” Yelena looked around the plane and then dived out. She looked like a professional, moving her body to get the fastest fall, and then deploying her parachute at the perfect time.
Bucky and Sam couldn’t help but be impressed by her.
Yelena landed, not wasting any time to take off her parachute. “Let’s go,”
“Shouldn’t the captain give the orders,” Sam asked, following her through the woods.
“Shouldn’t I be a billionaire by now?” Yelena replied.
Sam rolled his eyes, but Bucky couldn’t help but be amused.

“Do you have eyes on the targets?” Yelena asked over the intercom.
“Yeah,” Kate replied, pulling the string of her bow back. “On your signal,”
Yelena scouted the building, and Bucky and Sam were in position. “Shoot!”
Kate shot the arrow, hitting the middle of the ground. Some of the guards looked up at her like she had missed, pointing their guns. But before they could shoot the arrow went off.
“Alright everyone, get to your stations,” Sam stated.
Yelena jumped down from her post, Men charged at her, but they were nothing she couldn’t handle.
“So Kate, who’s better looking, Sam or Bucky?”
“I don’t think it’s appropriate for you to ask me that, but probably Bucky,”
“See I think Sam, but… Bucky does have the cool metal arm,” Yelena stated her opinion as she kicked a guy to the ground.
“You guys do know that we’re on the intercoms too, right?” Sam asked as he swooped down.
“We know,” Yelena shrugged at Sam who landed right next to her.
“Well as long as you know,”

“We just like to gossip while we work,” Kate searched through the vans. “What kind of group decides to park their last two trucks in the middle of the woods?”
“People who are trying to hide,” Bucky answered.
Kate smiled as she grabbed the canisters of serum. “This is it, we have officially defeated the shadows,”
Bucky nodded.
Kate stared at the serum. “Isn’t this a little sad, I mean this was our last mission for who knows how long,”
“That’s the goal,”
“Yeah… but aren’t you going to miss me, working together, having fun, coffee?”
Bucky let out a soft sigh, seeing that Kate wasn’t going to drop this. “Fine, I guess I will miss this,”
“See, serious Bucky is really just a softy,”
“Yelena, have you found Kate’s mute button?” Bucky asked with a smirk.
“No, she must have it hidden well,” Yelena knocked the last guy to the ground. “I’ll ask Clint,”
“He never found it either,” Kate replied.
Chapter 4
“Who wants to do the honor?” Sam asked, staring at the vans.
“I will,” Kate shot three arrows, two of them exploding.
Yelena spotted a figure in the smoke, and then she saw Kate’s arrow coming back at them.
“Kate, when did you get boomerang arrows?” Bucky saw what Yelena was seeing, but he thought it was just his imagination.
“I didn’t,”
“Duck!” Sam put his wings up, covering the group.
Yelena didn’t both but instead ran into the smoke.
“Yelena!” Kate yelled as her arrow exploded, and as soon as it was safe, Kate ran into the smoke.
Yelena looked around, trying to not breathe in a ton of smoke. She once again saw the figure. “Who are you?”
The person came out, in all black and wearing a mask. She put up her arm, shooting a widow tazer.
But instead of hitting Yelena, it hit Kate.
Kate let out a cry of pain, as she hit the ground. Bucky and Sam quickly ran to her side.
Yelena charged at the girl, getting into a fistfight with her.
“Who are you?” Yelena asked again.
Only for the girl to ignore her, and kick Yelena to the ground.
Yelena did waste any time doing a jump kick-up, charging at the girl again, dagger in her hand.
The girl kicked Yelena’s hand but Yelena tossed the dagger in the air, catching it in her other hand, and spearing it at the girl.
The girl stopped it, twisting Yelena’s wrist, and tilting her head.
“Who are you?!” Yelena’s hands were trapped, but her legs weren’t. She brought her leg high, twisting it around the girl, and through a few spins she managed her to the ground.
The girl hit the ground hard, her mask falling off.
Yelena turned back to Kate for a second, but when she went back to the fight, the girl was gone.
“Oh come on!” Yelena walked over to Kate. “Sam, any chance you can chase after her,”
“I could but my wings are damaged from the explosion,”
“Do you know who that was?” Kate asked as she found the strength to sit up.
“A widow, but I don’t know who or why she was attacking,”
Kate tried to stand up, but she was unstable and fell again. Bucky managed to catch her.
“We’re taking you back to the compound,” Bucky directed.
Chapter 5
“What did you guys do?!” Wanda gasped as they entered the building.
“Nice to see you too,” Yelena and Wanda shared a quick hug.
“What happened to her?”
“She got hit by widow taser,” Yelena helped Kate to the chair. “Not mine to be clear,”
“And weird enough she wasn’t even talking,” Bucky said smirking at Kate.
“And you have no idea who it was?”
“Nope,”
Wanda looked at the four of them.
“Why don’t you guys get some rest, you look worn,” Wanda helped Kate to her room.

Yelena walked into the bedroom, She hadn’t ever stayed at the Avengers compound, but she had visited a few times.
Yelena slipped off her jacket to reveal some of her scars. Cuts and bruises that would never leave. That pointed to her past.
Yelena took a seat on the bed. Laying back, and closing her eyes, the flashbacks starting.
“Fight!”
Yelena charged at the other girl in the training room.
After a few kicks and punches… Yelena managed to get the girl in a headlock.
Yelena looked at the instructor, and when the instructor closed her fist.
“Finish the job!” The leader instructed.
Yelena nodded.
Yelena went breathless, tears streaming down her face. She knew how that story ended, it was the way the red room worked.
Girls paired against girls. They would eliminate the weak ones until they had their widows.
Yelena couldn’t lay down, she couldn’t sleep. Guilt and pain were the things that kept her awake.

Bucky caught the shield with his metal arm and then tossed it at the target, but it curved at the last minute and missed
But a blue flash managed to catch it. Tommy appeared, his tiny hands gripping the shield.
“Tommy!” Billy held his hands out for it.
Tommy threw it, but it didn’t even make it halfway to his brother. Lucky for him, Billy had telepathic powers that he used to bring the shield to him.
Bucky and Sam could almost see a hint of shock in the eight-year-old boy that he was able to control his powers.
With a grunt, he managed to send the shield into the target.
It bounced off of it and into Sam’s hands, he then smiled at the two boys. “Good work, you cleaned up Bucky’s bad aim,”
“This is like the first time I’ve ever missed,” Bucky stared down Sam.
“This doesn’t look like resting,” Wanda said as she came down the training room stairs.
“It is to us, Kate’s injury is on us, we need to train more,” Bucky stated.
“It wasn’t your fault-”
“It was mine,” Yelena interrupted Wanda. “She was after me,”
“You don’t know that,” Sam argued.
“Then why did I just get a threatening text claiming that she’d be back?” Yelena showed her phone to the group.
“Well that’s settles it, You guys are staying here,” Wanda directed.
“I’m not staying here, I have an apartment, and this is my mess.”
“I don’t care if it’s your mess, we’re helping you,” Bucky ordered.
“I have a life, and being an Avenger isn’t a part of it, you guys might love living here but I don’t,”
“Aren’t you already an Avenger?” Sam asked, everyone nodded with him.
Yelena shook her head at all of them, guilt weighing on her. “No, I’m no hero, and I won’t have a bunch of kids thinking I am,”
“Yelena…” Bucky was empathetic to her.
“No please, I don’t want sympathy, I just want to handle this the way I handle it the way I handle it, by myself.”
“Well we won’t let you, we’ll send someone to get your stuff,” Sam insisted.
Yelena sighed. “Fine.”

I posted three chapters of my yelena and Bucky fic, which is now a Avengers book, that takes place after the third in my Wanda’s series (which you haven’t read, because I haven’t written it yet XD) so this is all in one universe, and she gets her kids in the third book

-Thorne@smiley I saw both movies. A few inappropriate jokes (worse in the second one) but other than that, they had solid plots and I really liked the characters.
Seeing a clip of Star Lord dancing in the beginning of Guardians of the Galaxy 1 was actually what got me into Marvel, lol. No doubt I’ve detailed that before several times, but it’s how it happened…..

I wrote a scene for the 5th fic!!!
Here it is, if y’all wanna see 😉
“Mind and his cronies are spread across all seven continents. We need people to go to each continent to fight each of them. Whoever doesn’t go will stay here in case Mind chooses to attack,” Sam pulled out a map, “so let’s get a plan together. Yelena, do you still have the papers?”
Yelena nodded. “Do you think I’d neglect my duties, Sam Wilson? I have them right here.”
Sam nodded and smirked. “Thought you did. Alright, first off…South America.”
A picture of a tall, muscular, bald man appeared on the holographic screen.
Earthquake.
An interesting name.
Bucky leaned back against the wall, arms crossed.
He was willing to go anywhere…but that didn’t mean he didn’t fear for Madelene and the kids.
“Earthquake has the abilities to cause an earthquake, make the ground shake, and he has superstrength,” Sam nodded at Yelena, “so Thor, Alec, you two are up.”
Yelena handed Thor a piece of paper. “These were Earthquake’s last known coordinates. You two don’t get squished.”
“Dully noted.” Alec muttered, rolling his eyes.
Sam clicked another button, and a picture of a young man in Ninja garb, his green eyes the only thing visible appeared on screen.
“Next up, Asia. Shadows is a ninja, has the ability to make weapons appear, super speed, and invisibility. Peter and Kate, you’re up for that one.”
Yelena began to hand over the piece of paper, but Peter shot out a webbing and grabbed it. It came towards him, but before it reached, Kate jumped up and took it.
“Hey!”
Kate laughed and winked at Peter. “I’m older. I get dibs.”
Bucky shook his head.
Crazy kids.
“Next up…Africa.” Sam clicked the button again, and a young man with sandy blonde hair, wearing a tan bandana wrapped around his forehead and donned in camo that was sandy colors appeared on screen. “Sandstorm has the abilities to create mirages and control sand, even creating sand tornadoes and quicksand. Steve, Ryo, your turn.”
Yelena handed Steve the piece of paper. Ryo looked at it and whistled. “Wow…sounds pretty powerful, Dad.”
Steve winked at Ryo. “Eh, not for us.”
“Europe is next.” A picture of a young woman with bright green hair, surrounded by vines and flowers, appeared. She wore a bright green flowing long sleeve dress, green leggings, and green boots that were etched with pink flowers. “Vineyard has the ability to create, manipulate, and control all plant life. Wanda, Yelena, you two will go after her.”
Yelena handed Wanda a piece of paper. “I’ve already heard about all of this. Hold onto that for me, Wanda Maximoff.”
Wanda chuckled and nodded.
“I’ll be going after Cold Front in Antarctica,” Sam clicked another button, “so that just leaves Australia.”
Bucky was either going to Australia…or he was staying home to watch out for Mind.
A picture of a man in hunting gear, with unkempt black hair and a black beard without a mustache, carrying a gun and wearing several knives, appeared on screen. “Hunter has the ability to hear sounds from far away and the ability to speak to and control animals of all kinds, and he is also super strong, so stay alert. Going after Hunter, we have…Bucky and Viola.”
Bucky stepped away from the wall. “What?”
Viola spat out the water she’d been drinking back into her cup, quickly facing Sam. “Why did you put us together?”
Bucky glared at Sam. “You did this on purpose.”
“Bucky,” Sam’s eyes shone with gentleness, “Viola and Alec are helping us, and you and her are going to have to work together on this, I’m sorry, but me and Yelena chose who we thought would be the best for each enemy.”
Yelena nodded and grinned.
Bucky scowled at her. “So I have you to blame too?”
Steve laid a hand on Bucky’s shoulder. Bucky slowly faced his friend. Steve smiled gently. “…It’ll be okay, Buck. You and Viola can work together for the greater good, can’t you?”
Viola slowly nodded and smiled. “Of course.”
Bucky turned away. “Fine.”
He’d work with Viola, sure.
But that didn’t mean he had to like it.
Sam motioned towards the others in the room. “Mayla, Meela, Vision, Andrew, the four of you can stay here, watch out for Mind, and protect anyone you can…so everyone has their missions, and I think we’re ready, right everyone?”
Bucky nodded. “Yeah…we’re ready.”
Sam grinned, pulling out the shield. “Alright then, Avengers…Assemble.”
