Here’s chapter 1 of my WWII Marvel AU…(let’s hope it posts it this time 😭)

C H A P T E R  1

May 1944

 

“Careful. Stay right behind me…you’ll stay safe that way.”

“But Bucky…”

He pressed a finger to his lips, signaling for his eleven-year-old sister to quiet. They couldn’t say or do anything that would attract any sort of attention…especially negative attention.

“Becca, you know what Mama has always told us.”

“I know…never attract attention to yourself…”

“Exactly. Come on, follow right behind me.”

Bucky led his sister, walking in the gutter, knowing they were unable to walk on the sidewalk. The yellow stars on their coats almost glowed in the bright May sunlight.

Sunlight reflected off the red flag that hang from every single flagpole…decorated with a white circle and a crooked, almost double cross-like symbol in the middle.

He so dearly missed America.

Almost silently, save for their shoes clicking against a gutter every now and then, Bucky led his sister back to the Ghetto.

He reached theirs and nudged the door open.

Becca released his hand and walked into the tiny building. “Mama, we’re home!” Becca looked around the tiny room. “Mama…? Mama? Mama!” She briskly turned around. “Bucky, I don’t see Mama!”

Bucky closed the door and removed his coat. “She has to be here, Becca…she wouldn’t just-“

“Ohhh…you two are home…” Frau Abrams, an elderly, widowed woman who had come to live in their same Ghetto a few weeks ago, whispered, her voice croaking and cracking, “…I was wondering when you’d be here…your Mother wanted me to tell you that she’s fine…she’s very fine,” the woman coughed, “…but the Gestapo came and took her this afternoon while you two were out and about…in that dangerous world out there.”

Bucky didn’t speak. He couldn’t even breathe.

Their father, Joseph…he’d disappeared two years ago…and now…their Mama…Winifred…she was…she was gone too.

“Where did they take her?”

“Ohhh, the old Synagogue…they’ve imprisoned many of them there for now…but you know as well as I do that she won’t stay there for long…”

“I have to go see her.”

“I want to see her too!” Becca cried, tears in her eyes, facing Bucky, fists clenched and at her sides.

“Becca…it will be dangerous…”

“I don’t care! I want to see Mama, Bucky…I want to see her…please…”

“Becca-“

“I don’t want Mama to leave too! Let me see her, Bucky, please!”

“Becca, oh Becca,” Bucky got down on one knee in front of his sister, “I know you want to see Mama, but I may have to sneak past guards to see her…and I can’t risk you being caught with me if I get caught, okay? Can you stay here and take care of Frau Abrams for me? I’ll tell Mama that you said hello, okay?”

Becca slowly nodded. She sniffed and wiped tears away.

Bucky smiled gently and brushed a long strand of his sister’s long, dark brown hair out of her face. “There we go…there’s my brave sister…there’s my brave girl.” He wrapped his arms around his sister and pulled her close. “I love you, Becca…more than you’ll ever know…I’ll be back later, I promise you.”

He only hoped that it was a promise he could keep.

He sank against the wall and onto the ground, a little out of breath from marching for so long.

He’d lasted much longer than he would have in the past…no longer as small as he once was, thanks to an experienced scientist.

Steve removed his helmet and set it aside, letting out a deep sigh. He adjusted his Wehrmacht uniform, making sure it looked decent, just in case one of his superior officers found him.

They were picky about how their soldiers appeared.

“You seem a little tired, Private.”

Steve glanced up and smiled gently at a nurse, dressed in uniform, that stood above him. “Yes Ma’am, I guess I am…I’ve marched for several miles.”

The nurse chuckled. “You soldiers certainly do a lot of marching. I’m just surprised you aren’t already in combat.”

“Well…uh…I’m a little bit of an experiment, so they want me to stay more…uh…contained.”

And he hated it.

He’d enlisted to serve his country…and now he couldn’t go and fight.

“Well, if you ever need anything, I’m close by, alright? Just ask for Madelene…they’ll know who to find.”

“Thank you, Ma’am…I’ll remember that.”

The blonde-haired nurse smiled and walked off to go tend to another man, checking on him.

She seemed nice…most of the women Steve had met in his life wanted nothing to do with him.

“Soldier, stand up!”

Steve almost automatically jumped to his feet and snapped his commanding officer a salute.

The man nodded in approval and smiled. “That’s perfect. Now, Rogers…I need you for guard duty. We have a few…prisoners that we’re holding in a nearby district, in an old church building. Since you have nothing else to do…I’m ordering you to report there. I will give you the address.”

“Of course, sir…I will do everything I can.”

“Good lad.”

Steve nodded. After his commanding officer handed him a piece of paper with the address, Steve snapped another salute, and his commander walked away.

Steve looked down at the piece of the paper in his hands and smiled. Maybe he could prove himself somehow…maybe…just maybe.

ok…this one is an American Civil War AU!!!

I have 5 characters done so far, so here they are 💖:

 

Steven (Steve) Grant Rogers

22 years old

Blonde hair, Blue eyes, tall & muscular

Growing up as a small, sickly child, Steve was the target of much bullying and getting beaten up was something that occurred almost daily. The only one who stood up for the young child was his best friend Bucky…but when Steve was 17, his friend disappeared one day…and Steve never saw him again.

Steve’s mother, the last family figure he had, died a year later…and Steve, as a young adult, finally no longer small and sickly, was left on his own in the world around him. Old enough to enlist, as war rages, Steve enlists into the Union army, wanting to fight for his nation and for those bound in slavery.

He’d never guess where his journey would take him…or who he would see once again.

 

James Buchanan (Bucky) Barnes (Pierce)

23 years old

Brown hair, Blue eyes, tall & muscular

A strong, hard-headed, rebellious young man, Bucky was often at odds with his Army father, who asked for full obedience from his son. Bucky had Steve though…and it made up for it.

Even though it was just Bucky, his father, and his little sister, Becca…life was good…until things changed.

His father died, Becca was sent away to relatives, and when a building in their town burned to the ground, Bucky was the one blamed and arrested.

Bucky was unable to pay the money he owed to the man who owned the store that had burned down to the ground, even though Bucky wasn’t to blame, and the man demanded Bucky as his payment. Bucky was given as a slave to the man, but the man wanted money more than a slave, and Bucky was sold.

Bought by a hard, cruel, overly rich man known as Alexander Pierce, Bucky’s life has been darker than it’s ever been. The only brighter spot is Abigail Pierce’s (Pierce’s wife) chambermaid, Sarah. Bucky loves her, and Sarah feels the same…but the two of them know they can’t be together.

Bucky only aches for freedom…and when he hears that Union forces are coming near…he may just have his chance.

 

Samuel (Sam) Wilson

26 years old

Black hair, brown eyes, average height & muscular

Born as a slave, Sam lived a life of bondage, but shielded by his parents for several years, he didn’t really notice…and he still loved his life. He had his family, after all.

But when Sam was 12, his younger sister, Sarah, only 6, was sold away…alone…and Sam never saw her again.

He vowed to do anything he could to get his sister back, and when his parents both died and Sam saw a chance to escape when he was 16…he took it. He fled to the North and became a free man…but he still wants and needs to find his younger sister…and he has vowed to do so. He enlists into a Colored Regiment in the Union Army to fight for the freedom of slaves like Sarah.

He’ll do anything for his sister…anything.

 

Anthony (Tony) Edward Stark

38 years old

Black hair, brown eyes, average height & build

Born as the only son to a rich Virginia couple, Tony knew a life of riches and luxury. He was lonely, being an only child, but all of the slaves his parents had to play with him made up for it. Tony didn’t question anything in his life…until he met Nicholas J. Fury.

While in college, Tony met Nicholas J. Fury, a freed slave, nicknamed Nick, and his eyes were opened to the reality of the evil of slavery. Unwilling to let such things continue…Tony became a large member of an Abolitionist group, much to his parents’ dismay, and he’s never looked back.

As war rages, Tony is required to join the Army somehow, and together with his friend from college, Bruce, a doctor, they enlist into the Union Army, Tony as an Officer, Bruce as a Doctor.

Tony strives to do what is right…no matter what it looks like.

 

Peter B. Parker

16 years old

Brown hair, Brown eyes, average height & skinny build

Orphaned when he was only a toddler, Peter has lived with his Uncle Ben and Aunt May in New York for several years.

When his Uncle Ben is killed in the war, Peter knows he has to do something to avenge him…and keep his Aunt May safe.

He sneaks away and enlists into the Union Army, lying about his age to do so. He’s excited…but nothing could prepare him for the realities of war.

What was he ever thinking!?

Peter is captured in battle and sent to one of the Confederate prisons. He’s alone…what was he ever thinking, getting involved in war?
