He kicked at the debris, so tired of all of this fighting…all of this bloodshed.
Why couldn’t Viola stop?
Peter leaned back against the halfway broken wall, unable to stand on his own any longer.
Footsteps sounded, and he turned.
Steve smiled and gave him a small wave. “Hey Peter.”
“Hi…Steve, do you think this will be over soon?”
Steve shrugged. “I actually don’t know…but I’m sure it can’t last too much longer. Why, are you questioning all of this?”
“I don’t know why Tony chose me…of all people, he chose me…but I’ve failed him time and time again,” Peter sniffed; he wiped his nose, “and I just want to make him proud.”
“He chose you for a reason, Peter.”
“Why, just because I have these abilities?”
Tony never should have chosen him…never.
“…I don’t think so, Peter.”
“Then why did he choose me!?” Peter yelled. Too late, he realized that he had just yelled at the man that had once called himself Captain America. Peter hung his head. “Sorry about that…”
“It’s okay, I get it. I’ve had my fair share of outbursts. We’ve been through a lot lately.”
“Still…doesn’t mean I should have yelled…but I just…I don’t….I don’t understand. Why would Tony choose me, other than these abilities I have?”
“I know why he chose you.”
Peter faced Steve again, tears slightly blurring his vision. “…Why…?”
Steve grabbed his shoulder and squeezed it, tight, in a reassuring kind of way. “Because you have heart, kid…and a lot of it.”
“He’s right, you know.”
Peter turned to face Pepper. Pepper nodded and smiled. “He’s very right…Tony saw something in you that you can’t see in yourself…and you have a lot of heart…more than a lot of people, even.”
“Now, how about we go stop Viola and Alec?” Thor landed beside Peter. “Clint found their location…and Peggy, Ryo, and the twins are captured there.”
“We have a battle to fight,” Clint pulled out his bow, “so let’s go before it’s too late.”
Everyone had gathered around.
Peter nodded. “We’ll make Tony proud.”
Pepper smiled and squeezed Peter’s hand, tears in both of their eyes.
“We’ll make Natasha proud.” Yelena noted, and Clint nodded in agreement.
Madelene smiled gently. “We’ll make Vlad proud.”
“We’ll make Avery proud.” Kate whispered.
Bruce’s eyes rimmed with a few tears, but he smiled. “We’ll make Nat proud.”
A bit of solemness, yet determination, crossed Thor’s face. “We’ll make Loki proud.”
Meela and Mayla held hands; sisters bonded together. “We’ll make Richard proud.”
“We’ll make Pietro proud.” Wanda said softly, and Vision held and squeezed her hand.
Peter watched Steve glance off into the horizon. A small smile formed on Steve’s face. “…We’ll make Alex proud.”
Sam stepped forward. “We’ll make everyone proud.”
“You’ve got that right, Cap,” Bucky grinned, “so let’s go take Viola and Alec down.”
“Thor.” Steve said, holding out his hand.
Thor smirked and released Mjolnir, and the hammer flew into Steve’s hands. Steve nodded at Sam. “Sam, care to do the honors?”
Everyone gathered around as a group…as a team…united by the fact that they had a common enemy…united by the fact that they had been through so much…together.
Sam stepped forward, shield in hand, standing in the front.
Peter readied his hands for combat, and knew the others did the same.
“Avengers…” Sam grinned, “Assemble.”

IT’S A WWII/NAZI GERMANY MARVEL AU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*cough cough* ahem…where are my manners???
ok, so this AU will take place pretty much solely in Nazi Germany, probably in the year 1944 (the same time my actual WWII WIPs pretty much all take place…1944 is just such an interesting year to write about 😉) and all of the characters will have roles/backgrounds for that era.
I want a Jewish character…but I’m not sure who would be Jewish, lol…I was thinking maybe Bucky???
Anywho…I don’t have much of the characters thought up, so maybe y’all could help me brainstorm a little too 😘
I do know that Natasha is an American, Russian-born spy that is posing as an SS officer to receive intel…Bruce is a German doctor of some sort…and Pietro/Wanda are two Polish young adults who are part of an underground resistance group, brought to Germany for forced labor…but that’s about all I got XXD
anywhoooo….I’m super excited about this….and I’m already dreaming up scenes 😂😂

Well…yea, Steve was from the 1940s…but I was kindaaaa thinking about changing it a bit just to add even more fun to this AU, lol…but idk, maybe i’ll just keep it kinda the same XXD

But I could see Loki making some very risky choices while he’s in the air, and Thor getting very angry at him
